2. Ecole "School of Statistics for Astrophysics 2015 : clustering and classification" - 11-16 octobre 2015, Les Houches
This second session of the School of Statistics for Astrophysics is devoted to clustering and classification.
Grouping objects obtained from the astronomical observations into distinct categories has always been a necessity imposed by their vast diversity. This is the case for stars, galaxies, asteroids, supernova, active galactic nuclei, gamma-ray bursts and many others. This clustering by similarities (unsupervised classification) is a prerequisite to any physical modelisation, and (supervised) classification a requirement for observations and databases.
The objective of the School of Astrostatistics 2015 is to train astronomers to the use of a large range of statistical and algorithmic approaches of unsupervised and supervised classification, from the most basic to the state-of-the-art ones, including the spatial clustering, the clustering of variables and the graphical methods.

3. 49th ESLAB Symposium "Exploring the Universe with JWST" - 12-16 octobre 2015, ESA-ESTEC
The 49th ESLAB Symposium "Exploring the Universe with JWST" will take place from 12 - 16 October 2015 at ESA-ESTEC, The Netherlands. The ESLAB Symposium will be an international conference dedicated to the presentation and discussion of future scientific research that will be enabled by the James Webb Space Telescope.

The conference will cover a broad range of scientific topics that will
be organized in the following categories :
The end of the “dark ages” : first light and reionisation.
The assembly of galaxies.
The formation and evolution of stars and planets.
Planetary systems and the origins of life (exoplanets).
Our Solar system.
The attendance will be limited to approximately 250 persons.

4. Sondage des utilisateurs de l’ESO
Le nouveau sondage des utilisateurs de l’ESO est disponible ici.
Ce sondage a été refondu et raccourci, afin d’inciter le plus grand nombre à y répondre. Peu de questions sont obligatoires, beaucoup peuvent être sautées.
Le sondage servira au représentant français au comité des utilisateurs de l’ESO. Il lui permettra de synthétiser les retours des utilisateurs de son pays et de faire remonter ces infos directement aux personnes responsables des différents services de l’ESO.
