1. RAPPEL - ESLAB Symposium on "Formation and Evolution of Moons", 25-28 June 2012, ESTEC, The Netherlands

This is the third announcement of the symposium "Formation and Evolution of Moons", that will take place in ESTEC, Noordwijk, The Netherlands, on 25-28 June 2012.

ESLAB is an annual meeting organised by the European Space Agency’s Directorate of Science and Robotic Exploration Research and Scientific Support Department.

The program, registration page, information on accomodation are now available at this address.

Please register online if you plan to attend. We are looking forward to see you in Noordwijk !

Olivier Witasse, on behalf of the organising committee

2. International workshop : "Asteroseismology with large time-resolved astronomical surveys", 19-21 September 2012, Leuven, Belgium

Scientific Rationale : The goal of this workshop is to bring together the relevant scientific expertise to prepare for a new era of variable star research with large time-resolved surveys. The talks and discussions will be organized around the following themes :
- 1) Large time-resolved surveys : what lessons did we learn, what are the challenges and the future prospects ?
- 2) What can we learn from large populations of variable stars ?
- 3) Time-resolved virtual observatories : how can we combine the power of different surveys ? What scientific questions can we address with such a new facility ?

Invited Speakers :
- Zeljo Ivezic : project scientist of the LSST survey
- Igor Soszynski : driving force behind the OGLE Variable Star Catalog
- Philip Lucas : head of the UKIDSS Galactic Plane Survey and co-I of the VISTA Variables in the Via Lactea survey
- Leo Girardi : creator of the TRILEGAL stellar population synthesis code
- Maurizio Salaris : co-creator of the BaSTI database and expert on stellarevolution and stellar populations
- Laurent Eyer : head of the Gaia Variable Star coordination unit

More information : Details can be found at this address.

Registration deadline : June 7, 2012. Note that the maximum capacity is 40 persons, after which the registration will be closed.

3. Special Draconids Session at EPSC 2012, 23 – 28 September 2012, Madrid, Spain

We inform you that there will be a session dedicated to the exceptional 2011 Draconids meteor shower at the EPSC2012 in Madrid in September 2012.

On 8 October 2011 around the 20 UT, the Draconids displayed an exceptional outburst, as predicted by several researcher teams. An international observation campaign was organized for the event. It involved two European research airplanes each carrying a dozen cameras, as well as hundreds of ground-based observation stations. This session will highlight the results of the campaign.

Additional information and abstract submission : this URL.

Deadline for abstract submission : May 23rd 2012.

4. Next GDRE meeting "Exploring the Dawn of the Universe with Gamma-Ray Bursts", 27-28 September 2012, Garching, Germany

The GDRE "Exploring the dawn of the Universe with Gamma-Ray Bursts (GRBs)" aims at improving our knowledge of the phenomena and at unveiling the nature of the universe at very high redshift thanks to the GRBs. It involves several european teams located in France, Germany, Italy and United-Kingdom.

The next GDRE meeting will be held the 27th and 28th of September 2012, in Garching (Germany). This meeting is open to everyone and contributions are of course welcome. You can submit a proposal or ask a funding support to : stephane.basa@oamp.fr

Details are available on the GDRE web page.
