1. Appel d’offre pour la direction du Laboratoire d’Etudes Spatiales et d’Instrumentation en Astrophysique (LESIA)
La fonction de Directeur du LESIA est à pourvoir à partir du 1er Janvier 2010. Afin de faciliter la recherche de candidats, un comité de recherche a été mis en place, incluant :

Le Laboratoire d’Etudes Spatiales et d’Instrumentation en Astrophysique est une unité mixte de recherche (UMR 8109) du CNRS, département de l’Observatoire de Paris et associée à l’Université Pierre et Marie Curie (Paris-6) et à l’Université Paris-Diderot (Paris-7). Le laboratoire, implanté sur le site de l’Observatoire de Meudon, regroupe environ 250 personnes dont 160 chercheurs et 90 ITA.
La vocation première du LESIA est la conception et la réalisation d’instrumentation spatiale et sol, et l’exploitation des mesures (analyse des observations, modélisations, simulation numérique, théorie), en association à plusieurs filières de développement de techniques avancées et de traitement de l’information. Ceci donne au laboratoire une position internationale de premier plan dans une quinzaine de thématiques de recherche couvrant héliosphère, atmosphère, magnétisme et vent solaire, magnétosphères de la terre et des planètes géantes, physique et théorie des plasmas, atmosphères planétaires, surfaces, petits corps et comètes, matière primitive, exoplanètes, sismologie stellaire et expertise de premier plan en haute résolution angulaire. Le LESIA est responsable de nombreux programmes d’instrumentation spatiale en cours d’exploitation. Il est impliqué dans l’instrumentation du JWST et pour deux sondes de BepiColombo, ainsi que dans de nombreux instruments au sol. Pour le futur, le LESIA est directement impliqué dans de nombreux programmes internationaux spatiaux et sol. On se reportera au site du LESIA pour de plus amples informations.

2. CONICYT-CNRS 2009 : Postdoctoral position in astronomy in chilean universities
The National Commission of Scientific and Technological Investigation, CONICYT, in the framework of the agreement signed in December 2007 by CONICYT and CNRS opens one postdoctoral position in Astronomy in Chile.
The applicant must be a French PhD astronomer or have a PhD in Astronomy or Astrophysics given by a French University. The appointment is for two years, and offers approximately the equivalent of a CNRS postdoctoral salary plus travel funding and health insurance. The candidate must be sponsored by a Chilean University or Institute where he/she would perform his research project.
Applicants should send a resume (curriculum vitae), with a list of publications and statement of research interests, and arrange to have three letters of recommendation and the sponsorship letter, sent to the electronic address given below. 3. Forum sur les précurseurs de SKA, vendredi 9 octobre, Observatoire de Paris
Le but du forum est d’informer sur les précurseurs de SKA, ASKAP et MeerKAT, et d’inciter les chercheurs à proposer des observations, ou à se joindre à des équipes existantes. Les principaux drivers pour ces instruments qui commencent à être construits en Australie et Afrique du Sud, et seront opérationnels en 2012-13.

4. Second announcement and call for papers for the joint ESA-ASI workshop on "Methane on Mars :
Current Observations, Interpretation and Future Plans", 25-27 November 2009, ESA/ESRIN, Frascati, Italy
Methane has been detected in the Martian atmosphere by both ground-based telescopes and from space. This discovery indicates that the planet is either biologically or geologically active. The goal of the workshop is to review the available measurements, the potential reservoirs and release mechanisms of Methane and its circulation in the atmosphere, and to discuss the origin and sources of this constituent.
