3. EWASS 2019 Special Session 16 : The physics of accretion columns : young stellar objects and cataclysmic variables
We intend to bring together modelers, observers, and experimental physicists to confront our understanding of the physics of magnetic accretion columns that govern the properties and evolution of young stellar objects and cataclysmic variables. We will discuss the various approaches undertaken to evaluate how accretion columns impact the star, its atmosphere (chromosphere, corona), and surroundings (e.g. circumstellar disks, winds, and jets), and what are the observational diagnostics to be expected from X-ray to near-IR wavelengths. The main goal is to foster discussions between two communities who rarely meet and work separately on young stellar objects and cataclysmic variables. It is also an opportunity to consolidate a dialog between observers, theoreticians and laboratory physicists, in order to develop a more comprehensive view of the physics of accretion columns.

4. EWASS 2019 Special Session 18 : Star and planet evolution : a journey along with the stellar rotation
The goal of this special session is to provide the community with a complete overview of the physical processes linked to the stellar rotation that are involved in star-planet systems’ evolution. We aim to reunite European stellar and planetary physicists, asteroseismologists, hydrodynamicists, and observers to discuss the latest constraints and results coming from up-to-date observations and recent numerical modelling.

6. IAU Symposium 355, The Realm of the Low Surface Brightness Universe, 8-12 July 2019, Tenerife, Spain
IAU Symposium 355 aims to survey the denizens of the low surface brightness skies, at all wavelengths and resolutions, to show the richness of physical processes taking place in this regime, which has not been fully explored yet. From the Zodiacal light in the Solar System all the way to the cosmological backgrounds, and from the contributions of amateurs to space-based instrumentation, this Symposium will provide participants with a broad glimpse of one of the few last niches that remain to be explored.
Important Dates :
15 March 2019 : Deadline for grant applications.
15 March 2019 : Deadline for abstract submission.
25 March 2019 : Results announced for grant applications and abstract selection.
1 April 2019 : Deadline for early-bird registration.
1 May 2019 : Announcement of programme.
8-12 July, 2019 : Symposium.
1 Sept 2019 : Deadline for submission of proceedings papers.

7. IFAS5 Summer school, Pune, India 16-24 August 2019, Spectroscopy and Spectrographs
The IFAS5 summer school (8.5 days) will propose lectures on observational spectroscopy, covering the most recent instrumentation and techniques. The students will carry-on 40 hours research projects in groups of 4 to 5 students supervised by an expert tutor.
These research projects will give the students an expertise to extract information from MUSE (VLT) data cubes, to use inverse methods for data fusion, or to build automatic classification or analysis pipelines...
The school will select thirty students, mostly at PhD and post-doctoral levels, but some Master students will also be considered. The registrations are open until March 30th.
The school is co-organized by IUCAA (India) and CRAL-Observatoire de Lyon.
