2. Call for nominations for the 2013 MERAC Prizes for Early Career Researchers
Fondation Merac is a non-profit foundation started in 2012 with headquarters in Switzerland to recognize and support young European astronomers. There are yearly three MERAC Prizes awarded by the EAS. The prizes of EUR 20’000.- are for each of the three categories : Theoretical Astrophysics, Observational Astrophysics, and New Technologies (Instrumental/Computational).
The EAS Council invites EAS members to nominate suitable candidates for the MERAC Prizes of 2013. This being an uneven year, the three prizes will be Best Early Career Researcher Prizes.
The deadline for nomination is Sunday, September 30, 2012.

3. Atelier français sur la reconnexion magnétique, 26 et 27 Septembre 2012, Université Pierre et Marie Curie, Paris
Le Programme National Soleil Terre (PNST) du CNRS et le pôle Plasmas de l’UPMC (Labex Plas@par) organisent ce mois le premier atelier français sur la reconnexion magnétique. La réunion vise à réunir des scientifiques issus des communautés des plasmas de laboratoire, de l’espace, du Soleil et plasmas astrophysiques pour discuter de questions d’actualité liées à la reconnexion, tels que la formation des nappes de courant et topologie, l’accélération des particules énergétiques, les processus plasmas à l’échelle des nappes et la rétroaction a grandes échelles de la reconnexion.
L’atelier se tiendra à Paris les 26 et 27 Septembre 2012, dans l’amphi Durand chez l’Université Pierre et Marie Curie (campus Jussieu).

Un pot sera offert le 26 Septembre (1230 - 1400) et aura lieu dans la salle de réunion de la faculté de physique.

4. Symposium IAU 296 - Aide financière de l’Ambassade de France
Le Symposium IAU No. 296 "Supernova Environmental Effects" se tiendra à Raichak-on-Ganges près de Kolkata, en Inde, du 7 au 11 janvier 2013.
Exceptionnellement, le financement de deux voyages de participants français a été accordé par l’ambassade de France et la SF2A est en charge de la procédure de sélection. Celle-ci favorisera plutôt des candidatures de juniors et/ou un bon niveau d’implication dans la thématique du symposium.
Pour être candidat, envoyer un court justificatif (une page maximum) par email à la SF2A (secretaire@sf2a.asso.fr) avant le 24 septembre 2012.
