2. Atelier : "Perspectives pour l’astronomie gamma des moyennes énergies : 100 keV - 100 MeV", 14-15 septembre 2010, CESR, Toulouse
L’objectif de cet atelier est de faire un état des lieux des divers travaux de R&D menés en France dans le domaine de l’instrumentation des rayons gamma d’énergie moyenne, et de discuter l’intérêt scientifique, les objectifs et opportunités programmatiques pour une future mission dans ce domaine.
Le domaine des rayons gamma d’énergie moyenne est une région spectrale extrêmement riche en phénomènes de hautes énergies : radioactivité, annihilation matière-antimatière, interaction de particules accélérées ... Les processus d’accélération de particules se manifestent souvent par une émission gamma fortement variable, et leur étude passe forcément par une surveillance continue des sources émettrices. La mission INTEGRAL observe dans la bande spectrale de 15 keV à 10 MeV depuis 2002, et continuera à fonctionner au moins jusqu’en 2012. Après l’arrêt d’INTEGRAL cette bande d’énergie ne sera plus accessible aux astronomes. Mais à part ce vide temporaire inévitable, il y a un autre "blanc" sur la carte de l’astronomie des hautes énergies : le gap spectral entre environ 10 et 100 MeV, soit entre la bande nucléaire d’INTEGRAL et les hautes, voir très hautes énergies de Fermi, HESS et CTA...
L’atelier commencera avec une table ronde sur les objectifs scientifiques de l’astronomie gamma des moyennes énergies et sera suivie de présentations et discussions sur les techniques instrumentales développées. Nous sollicitons des contributions sur les développements instrumentaux qui concernent le domaine entre 100 keV et 100 MeV.

The session MT1 "Missions and Techniques - Preparing for Planetary VOs : Science and Tools" :
The session MT1 is organized at the next European Planetary Science Congress 2010 (EPSC2010) that will be held at Angelicum Centre - Pontifical University of Saint Thomas Aquinas in Roma, Italy, from September 19 to 25.
Many space missions devoted to the exploration of solar system objects are presently in operation and several others will be launched in the near future, meanwhile numerous programmes of Earth based observations of planets, including extra solar ones, are still going on, or beginning with new telescopes like ALMA. The preservation of this great wealth of observations encompassing all observational means is warranted by systematic archiving programmes driven throughout the world by space agencies and by the main ground observatories. The efficient data mining of these archives requires standards for making data repositories interoperable with protocols for accessing, searching, and retrieving data in a way as easy as possible for the front end user. The aim of Virtual Observatories is to provide users with an easy access to public data whatever are their location and archiving format, together with services to analyze and visualize data, and to offer simulation tools. The International Virtual Observatory Alliance (IVOA) and the International Planetary Data Alliance (IPDA). play a key role by issuing recommendations and promoting standards enabling the exchange of data. Astrophysical VOs are already quite advanced meanwhile Planetary VOs are just beginning due to the multiplicity of viewing points (Earth and interplanetary probes) and to the wide variety of data types and scientific disciplines in planetary sciences. The purpose of the VO session organized at EPSC is to foster the development of VO tools and services in all planetary sciences and to offer an opportunity to planetary scientists to share their experiences and promote their projects. The session is open to all aspects of VO development and use having a potential interest for planetary sciences.

The Splinter Meetings SM1 "EuroPlaNet/IDIS Users Forum" :
The Splinter Meetings SM1 is organized at the next European Planetary Science Congress 2010 (EPSC2010) that will be held at Angelicum Centre - Pontifical University of Saint Thomas Aquinas in Roma, Italy, from September 19 to 25.
The aim of the IDIS Splinter meeting is to offer a meeting point between the teams in charge of the nodes of the IDIS Service Activity of EuroPlaNet RI and the community of planetary scientists interested in the use and development of this activity. Short presentations will be made by the IDIS nodes to sketch the presently available services and the planned ones presently under development in the framework of the associated JRA. As the community is invited to participate to a general discussion after these presentations, attendees to this SM are kindly suggested to visit the web sites of the IDIS nodes before the SM to get a preview of what is presently offered, and to test it as far as possible. We expect useful returns and suggestions from your first trials. Ideas to extend the covered topics by means of voluntary participation to the project are welcome.
