1. Lettre de la communauté française en soutien à un observatoire spatial infrarouge
A l’automne 2023, plusieurs missions candidates à l’appel d’offre APEX de la NASA soumettront leurs propositions d’observatoires infrarouges lointains. Partant du constat que cet appel d’offre représente l’unique opportunité d’observer le ciel dans ce domaine de longueurs d’onde, nous avons rédigé une lettre de soutien de la communauté à une contribution scientifique et technique à au moins l’un de ces projets.

2. Prix Jeune Talent du programme L’Oréal-UNESCO pour les Femmes et la Science
En 2023, la Fondation L’Oréal remettra 35 dotations en France, dont 5 au minimum, seront dédiées à des chercheuses effectuant leurs travaux de recherche dans les Outre-mer. La dotation s’élève à 15,000€ pour les doctorantes et à 20,000€ pour les post-doctorantes, et est accompagnée d’une semaine de formation et de la possibilité de partager ses recherches dans les médias.
Pour candidater, il faut être doctorante en 2ème année minimum ou avoir soutenu sa thèse depuis moins de 5 ans, et être rattachée à un laboratoire de recherche ou une école doctorale en France. Voici la plateforme de dépôt des dossiers :

3. Appel d’offre de l’Action Spécifique Numérique
L’Action Spécifique Numérique (ASN) se propose de soutenir, dans la mesure de ses possibilités, plusieurs types d’actions en 2023.
l’organisation de formations à l’utilisation d’infrastructures de calcul, de librairies scientifiques, de codes communautaires
l’organisation de réunions de travail pour le développement de codes communautaires et l’exploitation des infrastructures de calcul
l’organisation de colloques et d’ateliers d’échanges sur des méthodes en numérique et analyse de données
la participation à des réunions et conférences en lien avec le calcul scientifique tant HPC que HPDA
Nous encourageons les personnes qui souhaitent faire des demandes sur des sujets communs à les regrouper.

4. Free Training Workshops for Science Communicators
We want to bring your attention to a set of free online workshops as part of the EU-funded GlobalSCAPE project that will be led by our colleague Jon Chase next month (February 2023). Each workshop consists of two x 2-hour sessions. The workshops are :
1) Global relevance in Science Communication
2) Justice, equity, diversity and inclusion in Science Communication
Each workshop will be repeated four times to suit a variety of global time zones and schedules, so please choose the sessions that suit you best. More details about the workshops and registration can be found here : https://global-scape.eu/free-training-workshops-for-science-communicators/.
Please do share with your global colleagues and networks. These workshops will be in English, but we encourage any global trainers or colleagues to join if they feel they might be interested in adapting the content to deliver in their own regions/contexts/languages. 5. Astronomy From the Moon, Scientific meeting London (UK), Feb. 13-14, 2023
On 13 – 14 February 2023, the Royal Society will host a scientific meeting on the topic of ’Astronomy from the Moon : The next decades".
Low-frequency radio astronomy from the radio-shielded far side of the moon, can have a unique science impact on cosmology, potentially at modest cost. The permanently shadowed lunar craters may offer advantages for passive cooling of infrared telescopes.
This meeting will examine these and other potential uses of the Moon as a platform for astronomical observations and the policy implications.
This event is free to attend, and anyone interested is welcome to attend. Advance registration will be required.

6. Gravitational wave emission from proto-neutron stars and neutron star mergers, Thematic School Aussois (France), June 5-9, 2023
Registration is open for the the thematic school "Gravitational wave emission from proto-neutron stars and neutron star mergers". It will take place in Aussois (France) from June 5 to June 9 2023, see https://indico.in2p3.fr/event/28236/
The deadline for registration is April, 1st 2023. Note that registration fees include lodging and meals and that some limited support is available upon request, before March 15th.
This graduate school will consist of lectures, practical sessions, and seminars from young researchers. The focus will be on the gravitational wave emission from supernovae, proto-neutron stars and coalescing binaries, with an eye on the connection between astrophysical phenomena and the equation of state (EOS) of dense matter that defines the structure and macroscopic behaviour of these compact objects. 7. Moons of the Solar System, Summer School Aix Marseille (France), June 26-30, 2023
The Origins Institute at Aix-Marseille Université proposes an international Summer School dedicated to the study of solar system moons for Master and PhD students, as well as early career scientists. The Summer School Moons of the Solar System, organized in collaboration with the European Astrobiology Institute, is scheduled for June 26-30, 2023 at the Observatoire de Haute-Provence, France. Admission is competitive ; only 45 students will attend the program. A short letter of motivation is required for each registration. Several fellowships will be proposed to attend the Summer School.
