1. Atelier JWST France - 27 mai 2016, CNES Paris
La journée JWST France de 2016 se déroulera le 27 mai au CNES Paris
(salle de l’espace). L’objectif de cette journée, organisée avec les
programmes nationaux, est double :
1) informer et sensibiliser la communauté française sur l’état
d’avancement du JWST et le besoin de préparer, dès à présent, son
exploitation scientifique. Le JWST progresse de façon nominale et,
dans un an (mars 2017), l’appel pour des propositions d’observations
dans le cadre du temps dit « Early Release Science » sera lancé.
2) commencer à rassembler, quand c’est nécessaire, la communauté
autour de « grands » programmes JWST.
La journée consistera en une session plénière le matin, suivie l’après-midi par des sessions parallèles organisées par thématique scientifique (objets du système solaire, Exoplanètes-disques, Voie Lactée et galaxies résolues en étoiles, sondages extragalactiques profonds). N’hésitez pas à réserver, dès à présent, la journée du 27 mai ! Des informations complémentaires sur le programme de la journée seront diffusées d’ici peu.

The Milky Way as a galaxy
The nature of the components of the MW
The environment in which the MW lives
The nature of MW progenitor galaxies
Galaxy formation and evolution theory and models confront observational constraints at low and high redshift

3. Symposium "Comets 2016 - A new vision after Rosetta/Philae" - 14-18 novembre 2016, Toulouse
An international conference on cometary science entitled "Comets : A new vision after Rosetta/Philae" will be held November 14 - 18, 2016, at the Abattoirs Museum in Toulouse, France. The conference is principally organized by the teams involved in the Rosetta mission, the European Space Agency (ESA), the French Space Agency (CNES) and the Institute of Research in Astrophysics and Planetology (IRAP). Toulouse is famous for its aeronautics and space industry, its gastronomy and its history dating back to the Roman empire.
A general press conference on the Rosetta mission will be organized at CNES on Monday morning. The 46th Rosetta Science Working Team technical session will be held on Wednesday. A convivial dinner is scheduled on Tuesday night. Optional mid-conference visits will be organized on Wednesday and Thursday. Additional details about the program, will be included in the second and third announcements.

5. VIMOS Ultra Deep Survey (VUDS) : First Data Release (DR1)
The VUDS-DR1 is now publicly open.
It includes a release of all the 698 sources observed with VLT/VIMOS
in the COSMOS-CANDELS and ECDFS-CANDELS fields.
Spectroscopic redshifts, 1-dimensional and 2-dimensional spectra as well as photometric and SED-derived physical properties can be retrieved through our user-friendly VUDS database at this link. The database is hosted by ASPIC, the Public Spectroscopic Archives at the Centre de données astrophysiques de Marseille (CeSAM) at LAM. The content of the release is described in Tasca et al. 2016, arXiv:1602.01842
VUDS (Le Fèvre et al., 2015, A&A, 576, 79) is a Legacy survey of 10,000 galaxies observed with VLT/VIMOS to make a complete census of the star-forming galaxy population at 2 ≤ z ≤ 6.7 (http://cesam.lam.fr/vuds/). Galaxies are selected, using deep multi-band photometry, in a total area of 1 deg^2 spread in the COSMOS, ECDFS and VVDS-02h fields to minimise cosmic variance.Multi-slit spectroscopic observations are conducted with VIMOS on the VLT with 14h integrations over 3600 < Lambda < 9500A.
