2. Appel à candidature pour le Prix Gemini 2023
La Société astronomique de France (SAF) et la Société Française d’Astronomie et d’Astrophysique (SF2A) se sont associées pour créer le Prix Gemini destiné à récompenser une collaboration remarquable amateurs-professionnels en astronomie et sciences connexes. Ainsi, elles lancent l’appel à candidature pour le Prix Gemini 2023 qui sera remis lors des Journées de la SF2A, qui se tiendront du 20 au 23 juin 2023 à Strasbourg.
Il est entendu que cette collaboration doit :
- être active au moment de la candidature,
- impliquer un (des) amateur(s) et un (des) professionnel(s),
- comporter au moins un porteur français.
En outre, la collaboration doit avoir fait l’objet d’au moins une publication dans une revue « à référé », dont au moins un amateur est signataire.
Pour faire acte de candidature, il faut constituer un petit dossier comprenant :
- un court CV de l’(des) amateur(s) et du (des) professionnels(s) impliqués dans la collaboration ;
- un document comprenant un résumé du projet (max 400 signes taille 11, espaces compris), une présentation du sujet et des méthodes/instruments utilisés et un exposé des résultats obtenus pouvant inclure des illustrations, avec une liste bibliographique (max 15000 signes taille 11, espaces compris).
Le dossier complet en format PDF devra être envoyé par courriel avant le 1er mai 2023 à l’adresse prix_gemini@sf2a.eu
Le prix décerné sera matérialisé par un diplôme de la SAF, une médaille de la SF2A et un chèque de 1000€ ; un communiqué de presse sera ensuite diffusé. En outre le projet distingué fera l’objet d’une communication lors des journées de la SF2A 2023 à l’Atelier des Collaborations ProAm S06 et d’une publication dans le magazine l’Astronomie.
Le jury composé de membres de la SF2A et de la SAF décidera fin mai 2023 de l’attribution du prix.
Le Jury du prix Gemini est composé par la SF2A et la SAF avec : Frédéric Pitout, Jean-Baptiste Marquette, Nadège Lagarde, Roger Ferlet, Thierry Midavaine et Sylvain Bouley.

4. First SALTUS Community Forum, March 6th 2023, online
We are pleased to announce the First SALTUS Community Forum (https://live-azs-saltus.pantheonsite.io) on Monday, March 6, 2023. It will be held virtually, 9am-3:30pm MST, i.e. 17h-23:30h CET.
SALTUS (Single Aperture Large Telescope for Universe Studies) is a Probe mission concept that will be submitted later this year to the NASA Announcement of Opportunity for an Astrophysics Probe Explorer mission. This telescope for the far-infrared ( 30-300 µm) employs a radiatively cooled, 20 meter off-axis parabolic reflector and cryogenic detectors to better understand our cosmic origins and the possibility of life elsewhere. It will have a large fraction of its observing time opened to the community through a Guest Observer program.
The objective of this meeting is two-fold :
To provide detailed information to the community on the unique capabilities of SALTUS ; including its science objectives, design, instrument suite, and expected performance.
To solicit input from the community on the scope of its Guaranteed Time (GT) and Guest Observer/Investigator (GO/GI) programs.

5. Second edition of the MaNiTou summer school on gravitational waves, July 3-8 2023, Nice (France)
The school will cover the emerging field of gravitational wave detection and of its scientific exploitation. The goal of the school is to provide the students with a solid introduction to most aspects of this interdisciplinary field in accelerated expansion.
The school is open in priority to Master and PhD students, and also to young or not so young scientists who would like to get better acquainted with Gravitational Waves.
The school is limited to 40 participants. Master and PhD students can obtain a room at CROUS residence (cost paid by the school).

6. EAS 2023 Special Session : Understanding the connection between nuclear star clusters, black holes and galaxy evolution
We are pleased to announce the Special Session 28 (SS28)
"Understanding the connection between nuclear star clusters, black holes and galaxy evolution”
to be held on July 14, at the next European Astronomical Society (EAS) Annual Meeting in Krakow (Poland) from 10 to 14 July 2023.

7. EAS 2023 Symposium : Stars, magnetic activity, and circumstellar environments - confronting simulations and observations
The 2023 Annual Meeting of the European Astronomical Society (EAS23) is planned to take place on July 10th - 14th in Krakow, Poland.
As a part of EAS23, we are organizing the Symposium 13 (S13) "Stars, magnetic activity, and circumstellar environments - confronting simulations and observations" on 12 and 13 July 2023. The meeting will be structured in two parts, one focusing on "Stellar dynamos from solar-like stars to ultracool dwarfs - how does magnetism affect the star’s environment ?". The second part of the symposium will focus on "Discs, winds, bubbles : computational astrophysics of the circumstellar medium". 8. Conference "Windows on the Universe" : Celebrating the 30th Anniversary of the "Rencontres du Vietnam", August 6-12th 2023, ICISE, Quy Nhon (Central Vietnam)
Next summer, the third "Windows on the Universe" Conference will celebrate the 30th Anniversary of the Rencontres du Vietnam. It will consist of two joint conferences :
*Windows on the Universe : Astrophysics*, and *Windows on the Universe : Particle Physics*

The main topics of the conference are :
Astrophysics : Windows on Cosmology (e.g., CMB polarization, Large-scale structures, Hubble tension) Windows on Galaxies (including the Milky Way : e.g., Massive star evolution, supernovae, compact objects, cosmic rays, galactic center) Windows on Planets (including the Solar System : e.g., census of exoplanets, atmospheres, formation, outer solar system)
Particle Physics : Precision tests of the Standard Model, Higgs boson properties, BSM searches at colliders, Precision measurements in Heavy Flavor decays, Tests of CPV through EDM searches, g-2 Neutrinos, Strong interactions physics (heavy ions, spectroscopy...), Fixed target experiments, Dark matter and Axion searches, New technologies and facilities.
The Conference will include Common sessions and each conference will hold in separate parallel Plenary sessions. The "Common sessions", held each day, will consist of invited, unspecialized presentations of interest to both the Particle Physics and Astrophysics communities, while the "Plenary sessions" will be more focused and address scientific highlights of interest for each community, keeping in mind the wide range of topics addressed.

10. Exo-ELT France : retours atelier du 8 au 10 Novembre 2022
Dans le cadre de l’étude de "la Formation Planétaire et des Exoplanètes" avec l’ELT, l’atelier Exo-ELT s’est tenu du 8 au 10 Novembre 2022 à la Villa Clythia à Fréjus. Les principaux objectifs étaient : 1/ d’informer les membres de la communauté française présents sur le statut, le calendrier, les modes et les performances des instruments ELT, 2/ de présenter et revisiter ensemble les cas scientifiques, 3/ de fédérer et mutualiser nos efforts, 4/ enfin de permettre un retour plus large vers la communauté.
