3. RAPPEL - "The millimeter and submillimeter sky in the Planck mission era", 10-14 January 2011, Cité des Sciences, Paris

The Planck satellite has been operated with outstanding success since its launch on May 14th 2009. The first results will be presented together with discussions of the foregrounds physics and methods for the separation of the cosmological background and these astrophysical foregrounds.

Abstracts for contributed papers and posters can be submitted until December 3rd 2010.

4. Next GDRE meeting "Exploring the dawn of the Universe with Gamma-Ray Bursts", 27-28 January 2011, Tor Vergata, Roma, Italy

The GDRE "Exploring the dawn of the Universe with Gamma-Ray Bursts (GRBs)" aims at improving our knowledge of the phenomena and at unveiling the nature of the universe at very high redshift thanks to the GRBs. It involves several european teams located in France, Germany, Italy and United-Kingdom.

The next GDRE meeting will be held the 27th and 28th of January 2011, at Tor Vergata, Roma, Italy. This meeting is open to everyone and contributions are of course welcome. You can submit a proposal or ask a funding support to : stephane.basa@oamp.fr

Details are available on the GDRE web page.

5. Conference : "Assembling the Puzzle of the Milky Way", 18-22 April 2011, Le Grand-Bornand, France

The exploitation of large scale surveys, such as Gaia, PanStarrs, 2MASS, and many others, will lead to new perspectives on the formation of our Galaxy. The step from the observations to the theoretical understanding is however a great challenge. It involves modeling of many different physical processes, including star formation, chemical evolution and dynamics. The resolution of this puzzle requires exchange between astrophysics experts in each of these physical aspects. The topics of this conference span a wide range from the Halo of the Milky Way, the thin and the thick disc, the galactic Bulge, star formation and interstellar medium and will cover also large scale and/or dedicated observations of our Galaxy as well as different approaches of Galaxy models. The link between these different topics will give a fresh view on the formation and evolution of our Galaxy and allow to use the Milky Way as better calibrator of extragalactic systems. This meeting will be a starting point to assemble the international community already preparing and required the exploitation of the Gaia data.

Registrations open late November. Pre-register now on the confererence website.

6. 23rd Rencontres de Blois, "Particle Physics and Cosmology", May 29-June 4, 2011, Château Royal de Blois, Blois

This is an announcement and call for papers for an international conference which will be held in the Château of Blois, in France’s Loire Valley. "Particle Physics and Cosmology" will emphasize the increasing interplay between high energy accelerator based physics and cosmology.

The conference will consist of plenary sessions for invited indepth oral presentations(review talks and talks on specific specialised topics), and contributed papers, in the form of relatively short oral papers or posters. We will aim to achieve a balance between review talks, provocative talks given by recognized specialists, and shorter contributions, special emphasis being placed on active participation by younger researchers and post-docs. Parallel sessions, (generally for short communications) are foreseen, and are being organized as the need arises.

The meeting will be articulated around the results and their impact on current theories from the three major new experimental and observational facilities which are coming on line or have recently been commissioned :
- CERN’s LHC ;
- the PLANCK satellite
- the HERSCHEL satellite

Topics will include :
- the standard model in particle physics, in new data and new analyses,
- the search for the Higgs boson, heavy flavour physics neutrino physics (astrophysical and laboratory) dark matter, dark energy and recent advances in astrophysics cosmology.

The detailed scientific programme is currently under development. Scientific and administrative details are on the conference web site. You should login regularly, but if you urgently need information which is currently not available you may contact Boaz Klima, the coordinator of the conference, at the email address : klima@fnal.gov.

7. The Second CoRoT Symposium : "Exploring Planet Diversity and Stellar Music", 13 to 17 June 2011, Marseille

Space missions dedicated to stellar photometry from space are now entering their exploitation phase, allowing already to interpret the new data they are producing. MOST has opened the way in 2004 and is still working. CoRoT is in orbit since december 2006 and collects thousands of high-quality lightcurves of stars, with two objectives : 1) searching for extrasolar planets with the transit method, and 2) explore the stellar interiors with asteroseimology. The mission has been extended beyond the originally planned 3 years, and will continuously provide data until April 2013. Kepler is observing since March 2009, using the same technique and is now a major contributor to this field.

The second CoRoT symposium will be held from 13 to 17 June 2011 in Marseille at the Palais des Congrès.

This international meeting will focus on the most recent discoveries in terms of planets and stars, and on planet host stars. The ultra high photometric space missions are now revealing an extraordinary diversity of extrasolar planets through the population of transiting systems, and a new panorama of stellar physics, pictured by seismology, rotation modulation, activity and binaries. It also reveals the complementarity of these two fields and the need to study stellar and planetary systems as a whole.

All information will be available and updated at this address.
