1. Poste de Maître de Conférences section 34 à l’Université Montpellier II
Un poste de Maître de Conférences en physique stellaire va prochainement être ouvert au concours en section 34 par l’Université de Montpellier II.
Le volet enseignement sera rattaché au département de physique. L’activité de recherche portera sur l’exploitation des très grands instruments de la communauté astrophysique (VLT, ALMA, E-ELT, SKA, ...) pour servir - en lien étroit avec les études théoriques menées au LUPM (astrochimie, modélisation des intérieurs et atmosphères stellaires) - des études de physique et d’évolution des étoiles de toute masse.

Prof. Ralf Klessen : Modeling physical processes in the ISM
Prof. Nick Gnedin : Modeling physical processes at galactic scales and above
Hands-on sessions :
Hands-on exercises will be proposed in order qto train the students with numerical
techniques used in astrophysics. The exercises will cover a variety of topics,
linked to the formation of galaxies, like orbits computation, preparation of
initial conditions, comparing gravity solvers, performing hydrodynamical tests,
analysis and visualization of simulations, etc.
Registration :
The number of participants is limited to about one hundred. Registrations will be
accepted on a "first come first served" basis. We therefore encourage you to apply

3. Conférence "Physical Processes of Galaxy Formation : Consensus and Challenges" - 22-26 Juillet 2013, Aix-en-Provence
The purpose of this conference is to gather theorists and observers to review the processes that play a role in the formation of galaxies, to assess our understanding of the underlying physics, to establish a level of consensus in the way they should be modeled, and to determine which observations can best discriminate between scenarios and ultimately disentangle the individual processes.
