1. IAU PhD Prize
2. rttools : un outil d’initiation au transfert de rayonnement numérique
3. AGN and Polarimetry conference
4. Ecole Internationale d’Astrophysique Daniel Chalonge - Hector de Vega
As you know each IAU Division has, once a year, the opportunity to award its own prize to the candidate it feels has carried out the most remarkable work in the previous year (i.e. a PhD Thesis which has been defended between the 16 December in the previous year, and 15 December this year).
The IAU PhD Prize is open to candidates from any country, regardless of whether the country has IAU National Membership. The objective is to recognize outstanding scientific achievement in astrophysics around the world even at that early stage in the career.
I would like to count on you in informing potential candidates, in your country or institution, of this opportunity since the deadline for applications for the 2020 IAU PhD Prize will be the 15th December.
The application form is available here : https://www.iau.org/submissions/phd....
The conditions and details for the application are available on the IAU webpage here : https://www.iau.org/science/grants_....

3. AGN and Polarimetry conference
Dear colleagues,
as you probably know, France is experiencing a new outburst of Covid cases. In order to keep a safe environment, and knowing that borders are still hard to cross for non-European colleagues (which would make the attendance very low for our conference), the SOC and I have thus decided to move the conference fully online. It is a sad new since we were very excited to meet altogether but we have no choice.
We envision a slightly different organization with respect to "regular" online conferences. Prior to the conference dates (that might be slightly shifted towards the end of November), we will invite each person who was granted a talk to a private video-conference room (Slack, Zoom, Skype, at the choice of the presenter) where we will record her/his talk. By doing so, we will prevent disastrous disconnections, hardware/software problems or any other usual inconvenience of typical video-conferences. The talk, together with the slides of the presentation in PDF format, will then be stored on the conference website but will only become public during the conference dates. By doing so, you won’t have to wake up early in the morning or stay up late to give your talk. Then, during the conference period, we will make all the videos public, available to anyone who connects to the website of the conference. The videos will be watchable during a period of time longer than a week (likely two weeks) and each presentation can be viewed independently of the others. After the said period of time, the videos will be deleted. By doing so, we nicely skip the typical problem of time-zones by allowing Asian countries, Europeans countries and American countries to watch the presentations at the time of their choice. Finally, people will be able to comment each talk by directly typing questions inside a "comments" section that will be physically placed below the video. Moderators will make sure that the comments are respectful and non-aggressive. The presenter will be able to type answers to the questions. In addition to that, we envision specific time slots during the second week of the broadcast to allow live commentary, questions and discussions between all the people registered for the conference. More details about the time schedule and the softwares to be used will come in time.
Therefore, we welcome all of you who where interested in the conference but could not travel to join this FREE online conference. The deadline for abstract submission has been extended to October 20th. Do not hesitate to share this email with colleagues that could be interested too.
