1. Call for Proposals to the Indo-French Astronomy Network (IFAN)
The purpose of the IFAN (Indo-French Astronomy Network) is to support Indo-French scientific collaborations in astronomy and astrophysics. IFAN is aimed at promoting exchanges, which would enable scientists from France and India to visit their colleagues and collaborators in the other country for short periods. The program aims at supporting senior scientists as well as younger researchers, including Post-doctoral fellows and research students. The Network is presently supported by the "Direction des Relations Europeennes et Internationales" of the CNRS.
Here we call for proposals to the IFAN to support visits for scientific collaboration in astronomy and astrophysics during the year 2009.
The proposal should be sent electronically to Ajit Kembhavi (akk@iucaa.ernet.in) and Alain Lecavelier (lecaveli@iap.fr) by May 20th.

Chères et chers collègues
Dans le cadre des Journées SF2A qui auront lieu à Besançon du 29 juin au 4 juillet prochain, le PNPS organise deux d’ateliers :
un atelier PNPS/PNP/SSAA (Société Suisse d’Astronomie et d’Astrophyique) le jeudi 2 juillet sur le thème "Connecting our understanding of star and planet formation and physics"
un atelier général PNPS le vendredi 3 juillet.
Nous vous invitons à envoyer vos propositions pour des contributions orales et/ou pour des posters avant le 31 mai. Pour se faire, vous devez soumettre un titre et un résumé EN ANGLAIS dans la section "Inscription" du site des Journées SF2A-2009 ou en allant directement à cette adresse en choisissant PNPS-PNP-SSAA ou PNPS respectivement pour les ateliers du 2 et du 3 juillet.
En attendant de vous voir à Besançon.

3. First AO4ELT conference, 22-26 June 2009, Paris
As already advertised, ONERA and Observatoire de Paris, gathered in the Phase consortium, are organising an international conference on Adaptive optics for extremely large telescopes next June (22-26) in Paris. The main conference goal is to gather international AO specialists in order to share and to exchange around subjects and specificities related to the application of AO on giant telescopes. Hence the conference will address the nine following topics with a dedicated session for each of them : astrophysic needs and high level requirements for AO on ELTs, AO modes and instrumental concepts, laser guide stars, wave front sensing, real-time control, deformable mirrors, AO simulations, post-processing and pathfinders.

Registration fees, if paid before 2009 May 15th, are 100 € for students and 200 € for regular participants. After this date, they will be increased by 50 €. Registration fees cover attendance of the conference, the welcome reception, as well as a copy of the proceedings. The cost of the conference dinner (cruise on the Seine river !) is 30€ for registered participants, 70€ for non-registered participants.
