Call for Candidates to the IAU Division and Commission Elections 2024-2027

Dear IAU Members,

We are now accepting candidates among our members to serve in leadership positions on our Division and Commission committees.

The deadline for applications is March 1, 2024.

Divisions and Commissions are the vital structure of the Union; they can steer scientific decisions globally, and the active contribution of all IAU Members is paramount.

The Division’s new Steering Committees and the Commission’s new Organizing Committees will take over after the General Assembly Business Meetings in August 2024.

Each individual can occupy only one position in any SC or OC at any given time. This does not apply to ex-officio cases. For example, Commission Presidents are automatically ex-officio members of their Parent Division’s SC.

I invite and encourage you to present your application as a candidate for one of the positions open for election and, at a later date, to participate in the vote in each Division or Commission of which you are a member.

Please find here the link to the candidate application form for the Division elections  (you need to log in to your IAU profile first):

And the link to the candidate application form for the Commission elections (IAU login first):

Please contact the relevant Division President or Commission President for advice and instructions, if needed, before filling out the form.

We are looking forward to receiving your applications as candidates!

With my best wishes,
Piero Benvenuti
IAU Interim General Secretary
