1. Appel à candidature: prix INRIA 2025

Inria et l’Académie des sciences décerneront en 2025 les trois prix suivants d’un montant total de 65 000 € :

Le Grand Prix Inria – Académie des sciences, d’un montant de 25 000 €, récompense une ou un scientifique ayant contribué de manière exceptionnelle au champ des sciences informatiques et mathématiques. Cette personne doit exercer son activité dans le cadre d’un établissement français ou être émérite d’un établissement français.

Le Prix de l’innovation Inria – Académie des sciences – Dassault Systèmes d’un montant de 20 000 €, décerné conjointement par l’Académie des sciences, Dassault Systèmes et Inria, récompense une ou un scientifique, ou une équipe de scientifiques (constituée au maximum de 6 personnes) ayant été particulièrement actifs dans le domaine du transfert et de l’innovation dans le champ des sciences informatiques et mathématiques. Ces personnes, de toute nationalité et affiliation, doivent exercer leur activité dans le cadre d’un établissement français ou être émérites d’un établissement français.

Le Prix Inria – Académie des sciences jeunes chercheuses et jeunes chercheurs, d’un montant de 20 000 €, décerné conjointement par l’Académie des sciences et Inria, récompense une ou un scientifique de moins de quarante ans (année de naissance 1985 ou postérieure, avec un délai allongé d’un an par enfant), de toute nationalité et affiliation, exerçant son activité dans le cadre d’un établissement français, et ayant contribué de manière majeure par ses activités de recherche, de transfert ou d’innovation au champ des sciences informatiques et mathématiques.

2. French AtLAST days, May 12-14, 2025, Amphithéâtre Pierre-Gilles De Gennes, université Paris Cité (France)

AtLAST (Atacama Large Aperture Submillimeter Telescope) is a groundbreaking initiative to develop a 50-meter submillimeter and millimeter-wave telescope on the Chajnantor Plateau in Chile. As part of the ESO « Expanding Horizon » framework, this project is poised to deliver transformational science while pioneering sustainability through renewable energy and environmental considerations.

We are organizing an AtLAST event in Paris on May 12-14 (with hybrid participation available). The ultimate goal is to discuss the role of France in supporting and contributing to this project, including instrumental or software developments and the exploration of its scientific potential. The AtLAST team will present the current status of the project within the European context. Critical questions about environmental and societal aspects, ensuring that AtLAST aligns with these contemporary challenges will also be addressed.

3. Atelier S17 de radio-astronomie millimétrique – appel à contribution, 1er juillet, 2025, SF2A, Toulouse (France)

Dans le cadre des journées de la SF2A, nous organisons le mardi 1er juillet un atelier (S17) intitulé « L’interféromètre NOEMA et le télescope de 30m de l’IRAM: développements récents et futurs ».

Cet atelier a pour objectif de faire le point sur les développements instrumentaux récents et futurs à l’IRAM, et de discuter des programmes scientifiques qui pourront en bénéficier. Les présentations invitées fourniront aux participants des informations précises sur les capacités actuelles et futures des instruments de l’IRAM, incluant les évolutions techniques majeures de l’interféromètre NOEMA et la jouvence du télescope de 30m du Pico Veleta. Une table ronde permettra également de réfléchir collectivement sur les résultats des projets en cours, les outils de préparation disponibles et de favoriser l’émergence de nouveaux programmes ambitieux tirant parti des capacités améliorées de NOEMA et du télescope de 30m.

L’ensemble de la communauté astrophysique est invitée au-delà des utilisatrices et utilisateurs habituels des instruments de l’IRAM. Nous encourageons en particulier nos jeunes collègues (chercheuses et chercheurs, post-docs, étudiantes et étudiants en thèse) à proposer des contributions orales et posters sur des résultats récents ou des programmes en cours dans le domaine (sub-)millimétrique.

4. Workshop S19 At the Galactic center, July 1st, 2025, SF2A, Toulouse (France)

We organize a session (S19) entitled “At the Galactic center” at the Journées SF2A 2025 in Toulouse on 1st July. https://journees.sf2a.eu/ateliers/s19/

This workshop covers themes that are present in various Actions Thématiques (AT-PEM, CG, PCMI, PS). It will provide an opportunity for these communities to meet and discuss their observations, results and methods of analysis. The proposed workshop will also provide a comprehensive overview of our current knowledge of the Galactic centre for those who are not already familiar with this complex region.

5. Workshop The Fate of Neptunian Worlds: exploring demographics, atmospheres and evolution, September 15-17, 2025, University of Warwick, Coventry (UK)

We are pleased to announce the organization of a workshop focused on Neptunian worlds.

Rationale
The formation, life and fate of Neptunian worlds combines a wide range of physical effects. Do close-in planets reach their locations through high eccentricity migration, disc-driven migration, or a combination of the two? How are their atmospheres affected by these processes, photoevaporation at short orbital periods, and their environment? Can we better understand this population and these processes through observable planet demographics and a better theoretical picture of the combined processes involved?

We aim to bring together different communities working on Neptunian exoplanets, to allow observations and theory to inform each other and help push towards a unified understanding of these fascinating worlds that sit between rocky planets and Jupiter-scale gas giants.

6. ESO Workshop Planetary Formation and Exoplanets in the ELT era, November 17-21, 2025, ESO Garching (Germany)

We are excited to share with you that the registration and abstract submission for the ESO workshop « Planetary Formation and Exoplanets in the ELT era » is now open.

Priority in the selection process of this workshop will be given to talks from the ESO community. Only in-person posters will be accepted. However, we warmly encourage all scientists to submit an abstract. Thank you for your understanding and interest.

This workshop will discuss the understanding of how giant and rocky planets form and evolve, their internal structure and that of their atmosphere, in the context of the Extremely Large Telescope (ELT).

The main aims of the workshop are to:
– inform the ESO community about the status, schedule, modes and performances of the MORFEO/MICADO, HARMONI, METIS, ANDES and PCS instruments;
– present and revisit the science that will be addressed by the ELT, the scientific cases, samples, strategies of observation, calibration, data analysis and interpretation tools of the programmes dedicated to the study of the planetary formation and exoplanets;
– foster collaboration and synergy within the community to harmonize efforts, tools and strategies for the preparatory work on the ELT programmes dedicated to these topics within the framework of the guaranteed and open time.
