2. Première Newsletter ELT-France
La première newsletter ELT-France est désormais disponible en ligne. Elle présente les résultats du sondage sur les besoins de la communauté française autour de l’ELT. Vous y trouverez également l’annonce des premières Journées ELT-France, qui se dérouleront à Lyon en 2027.

3. Call for proposal International Time Programme at Canary Island Observatories
The international Scientific Committee of the Canary Islands Observatories (CCI) has issued the new 2026-2027 Call for Proposals for its International Time Programme (ITP), details to the call and the proposal form can be found at https://www.iac.es/en/observatorios-de-canarias/international-scientific-committee.
Please, keep in mind that proposals for ITP observing time must be submitted through the web-based system: https://proposals.iac.es/. Before preparing a proposal, users must register on the platform and select the ITP call.
Proposals must have principal investigators astronomers from one of the seven CCI signatory countries (Belgium, Finland, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, and the United Kingdom). Please note that the Principal Investigator and Co-Investigators must together represent at least three of the countries mentioned above. In addition, applicants are expected to explain why the requested observing time does not fit within the normal allocation scheme of the facilities. The call includes opportunities to use the GTC, WHT, TNG, NOT, LT, STELLA and Mercator telescopes.
Deadline for submission of applications is 9 March 2026 at 23:59 UTC.

4. Appel à candidature 2026 : Prix Jeunes Talents France L’Oréal-UNESCO Pour les Femmes et la Sciences
La Fondation L’Oréal, en partenariat avec la Commission nationale française pour l’UNESCO et l’Académie des sciences, est heureuse de vous annoncer l’ouverture de l’appel à candidature, de l’édition 2026 du programme France L’Oréal-UNESCO Pour les Femmes et la Science – FRANCE- France – Appel à candidature 2026 | For Women in Science (https://www.forwomeninscience.com/challenge/show/152)
Créé en 2007, ce programme a pour objet de révéler et récompenser de jeunes chercheuses talentueuses. Au total, 475 jeunes femmes ont bénéficié de la dotation du programme à l’échelle nationale.
Cette année, 35 dotations seront remises dont 5, au minimum, seront dédiées à des chercheuses effectuant leurs travaux de recherche dans les régions d’Outre-mer :
• d’un montant de 15 000 € à chacune des doctorantes récompensées,
• d’un montant de 20 000 € à chacune des post-doctorantes récompensées
Nous vous sollicitons afin de bien vouloir diffuser cet appel à candidature au sein de votre établissement ou de votre réseau et ainsi, encourager de nombreuses chercheuses aux profils divers à soumettre leur dossier.

5. Atelier Towards ALMA2040, 26-27 mars, 2026, Paris (France)

Following the announcement from ESO about the search of its next astronomical ground-based programme for the 2040s (ESO Expanding Horizons), the community is getting organized to prepare the science case, including a reference design concept, for a new millimeter/sub-millimeter facility in the 2040s, which builds upon the successes of the current ALMA Observatory. These efforts are taking place within the ALMA2040 network, a community-driven initiative to define the key scientific questions of the 2040s and translate them into a technical vision for a next-generation transformational (sub)-millimeter facility.
We are organising an ALMA2040 workshop in Paris (on-site / on-line), at IAP, 98 bis Boulevard Arago, 75014 Paris, Seminar Meeting Room Evry Schatzmann, on March 26-27th, 2026
The goal of this workshop is to make these European-led efforts better known to the French community and engage further support and contribution toward a coherent and community-endorsed base concept.
