3. Workshop JWST Cycle 3, Formation Stellaire et Planétaire, 6-7 Juillet 2023, Grenoble (France)

With the support of ASHRA, we propose to hold a two-day workshop this summer in Grenoble, dedicated to the preparation of JWST cycle 3 observations for the French High Angular Resolution community. You can find all the information below, and register here:

Summary:
This summer, the processing of cycle 1 data and the selection of cycle 2 requests from the James Webb Space Telescope will allow a first feedback, particularly useful in view of the preparations of future observations. In this context, we organize a 2-day workshop at the Institut de Planétologie et d’Astrophysique de Grenoble on July 6 and 7, 2023, in order to coordinate the efforts of the French teams for the requests of observations in cycle 3. These two days will be divided between 1) invited talks centered on the observations already carried out or in progress, the difficulties encountered and the developed or promising methodologies (ground/space synergy, modes of observation…), 2) periods of discussion and coordination on the future observational strategies, the need for simulation tools and numerical processing.

4. Journées du PNHE, 6-8 Septembre 2023, IAP, Paris (France)

Pour rappel, les journées du PNHE 2023 auront lieu du 6 au 8 Septembre 2023 dans l’amphithéâtre de l’IAP. Ces journées seront l’occasion d’avoir un panorama du domaine et de faire le point sur l’implication de la communauté française.

Nous prévoyons également plusieurs créneaux pour des contributions soumises.

La date limite pour la soumission de ces contributions est fixée au 9 Juin.

Plutôt que des sessions posters nous prévoyons aussi des sessions de présentations « éclair » (1 minute pour décrire ses travaux), pour permettre en particulier aux jeunes doctorant.e.s de se faire connaître de la communauté.

Un buffet dînatoire devrait également être organisé le Mercredi 6 Sept. au soir dans la salle Cassini de l’Observatoire de Paris.

La participation est gratuite mais l’inscription est obligatoire avant le 10 Juillet.

5. Conférence Surveying the Milky Way: The Universe in Our Own Backyard, 23-27 octobre 2023, Pasadena (CA-USA)

We are pleased to announce the conference « Surveying the Milky Way: The Universe in Our Own Backyard », to be held October 23 – 27, 2023, in the Pasadena, CA, area. This conference is organized by IPAC, at the California Institute of Technology. We are planning for an in-person conference with some online participation.

The goal of the conference is to highlight the role of modern surveys of the Milky Way in bridging our knowledge of Galactic star formation and the interstellar medium, the structure of the Galaxy, stellar astrophysics and time domain astronomy, with information on extragalactic systems. The conference will also be an occasion to celebrate IPAC’s historical involvement in surveys that greatly advanced our understanding of the Galaxy, with missions such as 2MASS, IRAS, WISE and Spitzer.

Themes will include:

• Structure of the Galaxy
• Stellar Astrophysics
• Time Domain Astronomy

6. Conférence HEPRO VIII, 23-26 octobre 2023, Paris (France)

It is our great pleasure to announce that registration for the conference HEPRO VIII (High Energy Phenomena in Relativistic Outflows), which will take place next Fall in Paris (Institut d’Astrophysique de Paris & Observatoire de Paris), October 23 – 26, 2023, is now open.

The HEPRO conferences are a cycle of biennial events devoted to the discussion of the most recent developments, either theoretical, phenomenological, or observational, on the major themes of high-energy and multi-messenger astrophysics associated with relativistic winds and jets, on all scales. The scientific program leaves ample room for oral contributions and posters, so do not hesitate to contribute!

Abstract submission will remain open until June 15 at an early bird registration fee of 250euros and the final conference program will go live in early July. Details on the registration procedure, including a preliminary list of invited speakers, can be found on the conference web page: https://hepro8.sciencesconf.org/

Important: as France will be hosting the 2023 rugby World Cup next Fall, Paris might be busy at the time of the conference. We thus encourage you to submit your abstract and pre-book your accommodation at your earliest convenience.
