Les journées de la SF2A 2024 se tiendront du 4 au 6 juin 2024 à Marseille. Les inscriptions sont désormais ouvertes.

Les inscriptions sont ouvertes jusqu’au 10 mai inclus (voir l’onglet « Inscription » sur le site web).La soumission des abstracts pour les ateliers est ouverte jusqu’au 27 Mars inclus. La date limite pour les frais d’inscriptions réduits est fixée au 17 avril 2024 minuit.

2. Le ESO User committee lance son sondage annuel

The Users Committee (UC) represents ESO’s astronomical community forming a direct link between the users and ESO.

On an annual basis we ask users for feedback through our User Committee Poll. This year there is a special focus on “Large Programmes”. It is an anonymous survey, and the answers will be only seen by the UC members who will use them as input for discussions during the annual meeting of the UC and ESO scheduled in April. This poll to intend to assess your experiences with ESO operations:

3. Session S11: atelier « Commission Transition Environnementale : Quelle recherche en astrophysique dans un monde soutenable ? », 7 Juin 2024, SF2A Marseille

Le vendredi 7 juin de 14h à 18h30, dans le cadre des journées de la SF2A à Marseille, se tiendra l’atelier organisé par la Commission Transition Environnementale : https://journees.sf2a.eu/ateliers/s11/?preview=true

Cette année, nous nous interrogerons sur le fonctionnement de la recherche en astronomie astrophysique dans le contexte de la crise environnementale qui contraint naturellement nos conditions de travail : comment équilibrer nos fonctions de chercheur·se·s / enseignant·e-chercheur·se·s et notre rôle social, tout en respectant la nécessité de changer notre approche du travail via des engagements (inter-)nationaux (e.g. COP21). Cet atelier sera l’occasion de rassembler les membres de la communauté A&A et de discuter des pratiques de recherche souhaitables que nous pouvons collectivement mettre en place.

Lors de l’atelier, nous organisons une table ronde à la suite de plusieurs interventions sur le thème de la recherche face à la crise environnementale et social, en particulier dans le contexte des rapports de prospective scientifique CNRS-INSU et CNES en cours de rédaction.

Nous acceptons également toute proposition de contribution (date limite 27/03)!

4. Session S10: atelier « Egalité des genres en A&A: Prendre conscience et agir collectivement », 6 Juin 2024, SF2A Marseille

À l’occasion des journées de la SF2A, la commission Femmes et Astronomie de la SF2A propose une après-midi d’échanges sur le genre et les actions à mener pour rendre notre environnement de travail ouvert et accueillant pour toutes et tous. Cette année, au travers d’exercices interactifs nous souhaitons s’articuler l’après-midi atour de trois volets: Les biais inconscients , la menace du stéréotype, et les violences sexistes et sexuelles.

Cette année, nous profitons de la proximité avec l’Aix Marseille Université, pour recevoir Isabelle Regner, vice-présidente à l’égalité de l’AMU et professeure au laboratoire de psychologie cognitive (LPC), ayant mené de nombreuses actions en faveur de l’égalité.

Nous invitons par ailleurs les membres de la communauté qui le désirent à proposer des contributions orales. Nous veillerons, comme à chaque fois, à ce que beaucoup de temps soit laissé aux discussions.

5. 2024 VLTI School: second announcement (Pre-registration open), Septembre 22-28 2024, Porquerolles (France).

It is our pleasure to announce that pre-registrations are open for the forthcoming 12th Very Large Telescope Interferometer school, that will take place at the Porquerolles island, located just off the coast of Hyères on the French Riviera, from September 22 to 28, 2024. This will be preceded by a series of online lectures given the week before (September 16 to 19 2024).
The school is aimed at Master and PhD students, post-doc and researchers who want to know more about the breakthrough technique of optical/IR long baseline interferometry. This year, there will be a special focus on the interferometric modeling of gaseous and dusty disks around young stars and astrometry/spectroscopy of exoplanets.

The school program is the following:

September 16-19 (online): a series of online lectures covering the basics of interferometry, the existing interferometric arrays (VLTI, CHARA, ALMA) and associated instruments, and the principles of image reconstruction and model fitting.
September 22-28 (in Porquerolles): hands-on sessions covering the preparation of observing proposals and observations, data reduction and vizualisation, image reconstruction, and data analysis. In parallel, several review talks will be given on the various science cases addressed by optical interferometry.

6. 9th edition of the Indo-French Astronomical School (IFAS9), October 4-11 2024, Lyon (France).

Registration is now open for the ninth edition of the Indo-French Astronomical School (IFAS9), hosted in Lyon on October 4-11th 2024.

IFAS9 is the ninth edition of a series of schools co-organized by the University of Lyon (CRAL, CNRS UMR5574, LIO) and IUCAA in France and in Pune, India.

The IFAS9 school will bring together students from different horizons, expose them to high-level specialized lectures, and propose them to carry-on a six-days research project. The primary subject of the present school is IFU: 3D spectroscopy. The topics range from data-reduction techniques, data analysis and modelling. The school gives preference to doctoral students and to highly skilled and motivated master’s students, without geographic restrictions.

Lectures and hands-on data reduction tutorials will be given during the morning sessions, and research projects will be proposed to the participants, in smaller groups supported by a tutor. The school will be concluded by a presentation of the results of these projects. Around 20 participants will be selected.
