1. Appel à propositions d’ateliers aux Journées SF2A 2026

Pour préparer la Semaine de l’Astrophysique 2026, du 22 au 26 juin 2026 à Grenoble, la SF2A lance un Appel à Propositions auprès de la communauté, des Programmes Nationaux (PN), des Actions Thématiques (AT) et des Actions Spécifiques (AS), pour l’organisation des ateliers. Les journées de la SF2A sont traditionnellement organisées le matin en sessions plénières et l’après-midi en ateliers.

Le conseil de la SF2A vous invite, en tant que PN/AT/AS/GDR, chercheuse ou chercheur, à jour de sa cotisation, à proposer des ateliers via le formulaire en ligne :

Votre proposition devra comporter une description des objectifs scientifiques, la composition du SOC et, éventuellement, une liste d’oratrices ou orateurs possibles.

Les ateliers proposés devront être planifiés sur une demi-journée (après-midi) chacun.

La date limite de réception des propositions est fixée au 12 décembre 2025 à 13h00.

2. Appel d’offre « Actions de diffusion de la culture scientifique »

La SF2A finance tous les ans quelques actions de diffusion de la culture scientifique. Les actions proposées peuvent prendre des formes diverses. Les critères suivants devront être pris en compte dans les dossiers :

• le montant demandé à la SF2A doit être supérieur à 20% du budget total du projet (le saupoudrage de subventions n’est pas souhaitable et la SF2A veut apparaître comme un moteur du projet). Une justification détaillée du budget demandé à la SF2A est nécessaire.

• les projets de type récurrent (i.e. demandant le soutien de la SF2A sur plusieurs années, pour une même action) ne seront pas considérés

• une attention toute particulière sera portée vers les idées originales.

3. 2026B: Early Science Observations on COLIBRÍ

COLIBRÍ is a research infrastructure developed in support of the SVOM mission, whose core component is a 1.3-meter robotic telescope capable of simultaneous observations from the visible to the near-infrared (https://www.colibri-obs.org/). It is operated from the Observatorio Astronómico Nacional de San Pedro Mártyr (OAN-SPM), located in San Pedro Mártyr National Park, Baja California, Mexico.

Although the infrared camera has not yet been installed (its installation is expected by mid-2026), the visible instrument DDRAGO, equipped with its two detectors, is now fully operational. The COLIBRÍ Consortium continues to refine and optimize the system, which is still in an early phase — scientific operations began only at the start of 2025 — but the facility is already producing high-quality scientific data.

As part of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between the various partners, including INSU/CNRS, about 22.5% of the observing time will be made available to the French and Mexican scientific communities.

4. L’édition 2026 des PhD Joint Programmes est désormais ouverte.

Le CNRS lance ces programmes doctoraux conjoints en partenariat avec plusieurs institutions internationales.

Chaque projet sélectionné bénéficiera du financement d’une bourse de doctorat sur trois ans, incluant des mobilités entre la France et le pays partenaire.

5. Recensement Chercheuses et chercheurs Thématique Défi transverse CNRS « Vie dans l’Univers »

Dans le cadre du Contrat d’Objectifs, de Moyens et de Performances 2024 entre le CNRS et l’Etat (COMP), six défis transverses ont été proposés pour aider à la structuration de communauté sur ces thématiques. Parmi ceux-ci, le défi « Vie dans l’Univers » a été mis en place autour d’un groupe de travail incluant des représentants des Instituts du CNRS et de différentes initiatives déjà en cours liées à ce thème (direction du PEPR Origines, Société Française d’Exobiologie…). L’objectif assigné par la présidence du CNRS à ce défi est de proposer des actions visant à promouvoir cette thématique de recherche, à l’échelle inter-instituts, sur les 5 ans à venir. Dans ce défi, le groupe de travail a identifié des questions liées à la compréhension de l’origine de la vie et de son évolution, ainsi que l’identification de potentielles formes de vie ailleurs que sur Terre comme prioritaires.

Dans ce contexte, le groupe de travail souhaite recenser les chercheuses et chercheurs étant impliqués dans des recherches autour de ces questions, ou étant intéressés par celles-ci.

7. RAPPEL: Questionnaire sur les besoins de la communauté scientifique autour de l’ELT

L’Extremely Large Telescope (ELT) de l’ESO entre dans la dernière phase de sa construction, marquée par l’achèvement imminent du dôme (https://elt.eso.org/about/webcams/). La première lumière technique est attendue en mars 2029, et l’arrivée des premiers instruments sur site est prévue à l’horizon 2030. Structurer la communauté française autour des grandes thématiques scientifiques que portera ce télescope de 39 mètres de diamètre est essentielle. Dans cette perspective, nous vous invitons à remplir un questionnaire en ligne visant à mieux cerner les attentes, besoins et intérêts de la communauté. Cela nous permettra de vous proposer, dans les mois à venir, des outils et des actions adaptés.

8. Workshop tools du GDR Cophy, 3-4 Novembre, 2025, LAM, Marseille (France)

We are pleased to announce the third edition of the Tools Workshop organized by the GDR CoPhy, which will take place on November 3rd and 4th, 2025, at the Laboratoire d’Astrophysique de Marseille (LAM). For your information, this event is just before the Action Dark Energy colloquium that will take place in Montpellier. There is no registration fee.

This workshop will focus on new tools and methodologies developed within the French community for cosmology, with a special emphasis on photometric redshift estimators (such as LePhare), strong lensing image synthesis/analysis, and the use of Manticore data products (https://cosmictwin.org) for cross-correlation analysis between large cosmological surveys (Field Level Inference topics).

9. Astro-CC Project Training event (VO School), 2-4 DEcembre, 2025, Mardid (Spain) – extended deadline

The Astro-CC Pilot project is organising its first international training event at the Centro de Astrobiología (Madrid, Spain) from Tuesday 2 to Thursday 4 December 2025.

The Virtual Observatory (VO) is opening up new ways of exploiting the huge amount of data provided by the ever-growing number of ground-based and space facilities, as well as by computer simulations. The goal of the school is twofold:

– Expose participants to the variety of VO tools and services available today so that they can use them efficiently for their own research.

– Gather requirements and feedback from participants.

To achieve these goals, VO experts from different communities (astronomy, heliospheric physics, planetary science, and astro-particle physic) will lecture and tutor the participants on the usage of VO tools and services. Real life examples of scientific applications will be given. Three days will be dedicated to hands-on exercises, which will allow participants to become fully familiar with the VO capabilities on their own laptops.

In order to ensure the right level of interaction, participation will be restricted to a limited number of participants (40 people). Preference will be given to PhD students and post-docs.

Please note that there will be no fee for the school. The organization will cover the main travel costs (within Europe) and accommodation expenses for the accepted participants.

10. First RAMSES school for developers, 9-12 Decembre, 2025, Lyon (France)

The RAMSES SNO is pleased to announce its first RAMSES school for developers. This school will take place in Lyon from Dec. 9 at 2pm to Dec. 12 (5pm), 2025. It is designed to provide a thorough and practical introduction to the inner workings of the RAMSES code and is addressed to experienced users who wish to step up and develop their own models within RAMSES.

The school will start with a mix of lectures and exercises that cover most aspects of the code, and will end, if time allows, with a few projects where students will be guided to implement various features that are typical developments.

The lectures and exercises will cover the following topics.

git for RAMSES
General architecture of the code
Data structures
Particles
Parameters, initialisations, and outputs
MPI communications
Particle-cell interactions
Miscelaneous things (cooling, passive scalars, boundary conditions,…)
Refinement schemes

The school can host no more than 8 participants and in order to make a fair selection, we ask candidates to provide upon registration a short description of the project they have in line with RAMSES, and a short summary of their experience in numerical astrophysics and with RAMSES.

The school is open to any professional astrophysicist (PhD, postdoc, engineer, researcher) working in France or abroad.

11. Workshop Rogue Worlds 2, 15-17 Decembre, 2025, IAP, Paris (France)

This December 15-17 (2025), you are cordially invited to Paris for Rogue Worlds 2, the second in the Rogue Worlds series of meetings (talks from the first meeting available here). It will be a 3-day workshop focusing on the detection, dynamics, and astrophysical interpretation of free-floating planetary mass objects.

Scientific rationale

Free-floating, or « rogue », planetary-mass objects have been discovered wandering through the Galaxy unbound to any star. The origins of these objects remain poorly understood, and likely involve a combination of many different processes relevant to star and planet formation. Direct imaging surveys of young star-forming regions have already found hundreds of high-mass rogue planets, though it remains an ongoing theoretical challenge to determine what fraction represent ejected planets as opposed to aborted stellar embryos. Meanwhile, upcoming microlensing missions such as the Nancy Grace Roman telescope are poised to vastly increase our sample of free-floating planets at masses extending to Earth-mass and below, opening a new window into their origin and demographics.

Rogue Worlds 2 is a 3-day workshop designed to bring together researchers at the forefront of different aspects of the study of free-floating planets, including microlensing (ground- and space-based), direct imaging, and modeling of stellar and planetary dynamics. The format of the workshop is designed to promote discussion and foster collaboration, bringing together researchers across a wide array of fields to make new progress on our understanding of rogue worlds and the systems they leave behind.

12. PNP Winter School 2026 “Planetary Atmospheres and Interiors: A Two-Way Connection”, 9-13 February, 2026, Les Houches (France) – Extended deadline

The deadline for registration to the PNP Winter School 2026 has been extended to Friday, October 24th, 2025 (midnight CEST).

Our PNP winter school 2026 in Les Houches will focus on the link between planetary interiors and atmospheres, taking advantage of the expertise in both studies of the interior of the Earth and of planetary atmospheres, in the solar system and for exoplanets. A comprehensive knowledge of planetary composition is essential to understand planet formation and evolution. Since planetary interiors are largely inaccessible, their compositions must often be inferred from atmospheric observations. In this context, deciphering the complex mechanisms linking a planet’s interior to its atmosphere is a key scientific challenge. This winter school will explore these interior–atmosphere interactions across a wide range of planetary environments. We will address both physical and chemical aspects of planetary evolution — from the contraction of gas giants to the effects of volcanism and outgassing on the atmospheres of rocky planets.

Le numéro d’octobre (n°197) du magazine de la SaF l’Astronomie est paru.

Les Actualités présentent entre autres deux scénarios pour l’origine de l’astéroïde Vesta (F. Deschamps – IESA,Taiwan), l’existence d’un nouveau satellite pour Uranus (F. Mottez – OP) ou encore la façon dont le rayonnement d’un quasar transforme le gaz d’une galaxie (S. Collin-Zahn – OP). Dans le cadre de notre collaboration avec des collègues astronomes chinois, nous présentons les résultats obtenus par le satellite Wukong à la recherche de particules de haute énergie et de rayons gamma (Y. Fan et Q. Yuan – Purple Mountain Observatory). La météorite Orgueil est le thème du Bestiaire de l’astrophysique, (J. Borg – IAS). Dans le Zoom, S. Collin-Zahn présente l’exceptionnelle astronome américaine Vera Rubin et l’observatoire qui lui est dédié au Chili et T. Encrenaz quatre siècles d’observation du Système solaire depuis la Terre. La rubrique du Centenaire de la disparition de C. Flammarion présente une description de C. Flammarion botaniste et ses travaux sur les étoiles doubles. Côté Observations, G. Sautot et E. Evrard (SaF) présentent l’amas globulaire M2 et A. Sallez (SaF) une nébuleuse du Sagittaire avec son étoile de Wolf-Rayet. J. Riou et Y. Lamotte décrivent l’observatoire de Sabarat non loin de Toulouse.
