4. Annonce Ecole franco indienne IFAS11, 2-8 Octobre, 2026, Chateau de Goutelas (France)
Registration is now open for the eleventh edition of the Indo-French Astronomical School (IFAS11), hosted at the Chateau de Goutelas near Lyon, on October 2nd-8th 2026
https://ifas11.sciencesconf.org
IFAS11 is the eleventh edition of a series of schools co-organized by the University of Lyon (CRAL, CNRS UMR5574, LIO) and IUCAA in France and in Pune, India.
The IFAS11 school will bring together students from different horizons, expose them to high-level specialized lectures, and propose them to carry-on a six-days research project. The primary subject of the present school is IFU: 3D spectroscopy. The topics range from data-reduction techniques, data analysis and modelling. The school gives preference to doctoral students and to highly skilled and motivated master’s students, without geographic restrictions.
Lectures and hands-on data reduction tutorials will be given during the morning sessions, and research projects will be proposed to the participants, in smaller groups supported by a tutor. The school will be concluded by a presentation of the results of these projects. Around 20 participants will be selected.

5. NECO Workshop « Probing the Circumstellar and Interstellar Medium with Transients and Multi-Wavelength Observations », 26-29 October, 2026, Tokyo (Japan)
Abstract submission is now open for the workshop:
« Probing the Circumstellar and Interstellar Medium with Transients and Multi-Wavelength Observations »
Dates: 26-29 October 2026
Location: Waseda University, Tokyo, Japan
Note that some funding is available for French people through the NECO International Research Network.
If you are interested, please send an email to denis.burgarella@lam.fr, in addition to the abstract submission.
Most participants will have a talk of about 15 minutes.
This workshop will bring together researchers working on transients (SNe, GRBs, FRBs) and galaxy evolution
to explore the multi-scale structure of baryonic matter, from circumstellar environments to the intergalactic medium.
Papers on results about the ISM in galaxies derived from observations and models are welcome.
The workshop will include dedicated discussion sessions to foster collaboration, particularly between Japanese and French teams.
Important Dates
Opening of abstract submissions: May 22, 2026
Deadline for abstract submission: June 30, 2026
Opening of registration: June 15, 2026
Abstract acceptance announcement: July 31, 2026
Deadline for registration: August 31, 2026

6. RAMSES New User School 2026, 27-29 October, 2026, Strasbourg (France)
Dates : 27-29 October 2026
Location : Observatoire Astronomique de Strasbourg,
11 rue de l’Universite, 67000 Strasbourg, France
Format : IN PERSON ONLY (no remote attendance, no Zoom)
The RAMSES SNO is organizing a new user school for the RAMSES code, aimed at PhD students, postdocs, engineers and faculty with an interest in computational astrophysics and numerical simulations.
Program:
– Quick refresher on numerical schemes for astrophysical
plasmas
– Fundamentals of High Performance Computing (HPC)
– Compiling RAMSES for parallel use
– Hands-on project work: dense-core collapse, forced
turbulence, idealized galaxies, cosmological volumes
Registration is free. The number of seats is limited to 14.
No specific prerequisites are required beyond basic knowledge of physics and programming. Applicants must submit a brief description of their planned RAMSES project and a short summary of their numerical astrophysics experience.
Registration deadline: 15 September 2026
Training staff: Tine Colman, Maxime Trebitsch, Benoit Commercon, Yohan Dubois, Joakim Rosdahl, Pierre Ocvirk.

7. Second ELT- Webinar on Tuesday 16th June -14h30 « The MICADO and MORFEO Instruments for the ELT » by Yann Clenet (LIRA) and David Mouillet (IPAG)
We are pleased to announce that the second webinar of the ELT-France Webinar Series will take place online on June 16th, 2026 at 14:30 (CET). The webinar will present the MICADO and MORFEO Instruments for the ELT (abstract below) and will be given by Yann Clenet (LIRA) and David Mouillet (IPAG).
The webinar will be hosted using the new CNRS platform WEBINAIRE. To join the session copy and paste the following address into your web browser: https://visio.numerique.gouv.fr/ihm-kwey-gxn
Abstract :
Among the ELT first-light instruments, the MICADO–MORFEO system will provide near-infrared observational capabilities (0.8–2.4 μm) over a relatively large field of view (up to 50″), combining the sensitivity and diffraction-limited performance of the ELT. This imager will offer five observing modes—imaging, astrometry, long-slit spectroscopy, integral-field spectroscopy, and high-contrast imaging—enabling a broad range of astrophysical investigations. Its angular resolution will be achieved through two adaptive optics modes. The first, Single-Conjugate Adaptive Optics (SCAO), delivers high-performance correction in the vicinity of a bright reference source and is developed within the MICADO consortium. The second, Multi-Conjugate Adaptive Optics (MCAO), provides a moderate but uniform correction across the entire MICADO field of view and is being developed by the MORFEO consortium.
In this joint presentation, we will first briefly review the key aspects of both consortia and the French contributions to these projects. We will then present the targeted observational capabilities in terms of observing modes and expected performance. Finally, we will highlight the main astrophysical science cases identified so far, as well as the scientific preparation activities being carried out within the consortia and the discussions currently underway within the French astronomical community.
