1. Call for NRT proposals – 2027A

This is the 2027A semester call for proposals to observe with the Nancay Radio Telescope. The submission deadline is: 1 November 2026.

The Nancay Radio Telescope (NRT, France) is a high sensitivity (1.4 K/Jy at 21cm) meridian telescope (the tracking duration is 1 hour, and varies approximately as 1/cos(DEC) ) with full polarization capability in the frequency range from 1.1 GHz to 3.5 GHz. The declination limit is > -39 deg. It is operated by the Observatoire de Paris, the Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique and also funded by the Region Centre-Val de Loire.

The NRT proposal call is open to the international community.

Forms and explanations:

Proposals are to be sent to: lucas.guillemot at cnrs-orleans.fr .

2. Galaxy Cluster France Workshop, 26-27 November, 2026, Meudon (France) : registration and call for abstract

This is a second announcement for the Galaxy Cluster France workshop, which will be held on 26–27 November at the Meudon Campus of the Paris Observatory. The programme is organised around five open questions:

How do clusters build up their dark matter, stellar, and gas components across cosmic time?

What shapes the hot gas in clusters?

How does the cluster environment transform galaxies?

How can we use clusters as precision probes of cosmology and fundamental physics, beyond number counts and clustering?

How do we break galaxy formation–cosmology degeneracies?

We invite PhD students and postdocs to propose contributed talks (15 min + 5 min for questions) via the online form available on the workshop webpage, before 31 October: https://indico.obspm.fr/event/3124/.

Unless you have already done so, we also invite everyone who intends to attend in person to register on the workshop webpage.

Due to venue constraints, in-person attendance is limited to 65 participants. A video connection will also be available for those wishing to follow the workshop remotely. If you have already registered for in-person attendance but would instead like to participate online, please update your registration accordingly.

A limited amount of travel funding is available for young scientists. Please indicate in the registration form if you would like to be considered for support.

3. EDSU 2027 Conference, May 10-14, 2027, Guadeloupe : first announcement

We are pleased to announce the upcoming edition of the EDSU 2027 conference, which will be held in Guadeloupe from May 10 to 14, 2027.

https://indico.cern.ch/event/1561485

The « 6th World Summit on Exploring the Dark Side of the Universe »  provides a privileged forum for exchange between cosmologists, particle physicists, and astroparticle physicists, aiming to discuss recent advances and future prospects on major open questions in cosmology, astrophysics, and particle physics.

abstract submission for scientific contributions is now open : from October 1st to December 31st.

The scientific committee’s decisions on abstract acceptance will be communicated to you by the end of January. We warmly encourage you to submit your contribution proposals as soon as possible, and we look forward to welcoming you to this new edition.

This edition will also place strong emphasis on science outreach, with a broad program of activities aimed at the general public and at schools alike, fostering direct exchange with the local community.

The target audience spans amateur astronomers, schoolchildren, and the general public. Our central goal is to bring scientific culture to audiences far removed from major research centers, with a particular focus on inspiring girls toward careers in science. The program includes researcher–student encounters in schools across Guadeloupe (middle schools, high schools, and universities), public lectures open to everyone across several towns — delivered by Nobel laureate in Physics Alain Aspect and other renowned scientists — and science competitions for schoolchildren on the theme of exploring the Universe.

Particular attention will be given to fostering female vocations in science: the organizing scientific committee is entirely composed of women, complemented by « Women & Science » round tables and poster exhibitions showcasing female role models in scientific careers.

Building on the success of the 2018 and 2020 editions in Guadeloupe and the 2022 edition in La Réunion (135 researchers, 4,000 schoolchildren reached, 2,000 members of the public), EDSU 2027 extends this strong tradition of science mediation through free public lectures, school visits, and youth competitions, with the ambition of strengthening the international visibility of the host territories and inspiring local scientific vocations.

We will place particular emphasis on strong female representation among both the conference’s scientific participants and the speakers engaging with schools and the public, aiming at a minimum for gender parity.

This conference is organized by the non-profit association Physique-Outremer.
