Appel \u00e0 contribution projet PROVIDENCE Onera<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>L&rsquo;Onera s&rsquo;est engag\u00e9 fin 2023 dans la r\u00e9alisation d&rsquo;un projet ambitieux de plateforme de recherche optique optimis\u00e9e pour la surveillance de l&rsquo;espace \u00e0 haute r\u00e9solution angulaire, projet nomm\u00e9 PROVIDENCE. Ce projet sera men\u00e9 en collaboration avec l&rsquo;INSU notamment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ce projet s&rsquo;appuiera sur un moyen cons\u00e9quent, un t\u00e9lescope de 2.2m typiquement, permettant entre autre la poursuite d&rsquo;objets en orbite basse, et qui sera \u00e9quip\u00e9 d&rsquo;optique adaptative. Le site d&rsquo;installation se fera \u00e0 l&rsquo;OHP. La premi\u00e8re lumi\u00e8re est pr\u00e9vue en 2028. Il visera des applications duales, couvrant de base l&rsquo;observation de satellites et d\u00e9bris, mais aussi l&rsquo;observation astronomique, l&rsquo;instrumentation et des probl\u00e9matiques transverses autour de la caract\u00e9risation de l&rsquo;environnement, de l&rsquo;atmosph\u00e8re, la focalisation laser et les telecom. Ce moyen vise \u00e0 \u00eatre collaboratif et donc \u00e0 impliquer la communaut\u00e9 scientifique, pour favoriser des d\u00e9veloppements innovants et fournir un acc\u00e8s au ciel unique en Europe pour nos probl\u00e9matiques.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Notre premier objectif est donc \u00e0 ce stade d&rsquo;identifier les probl\u00e9matiques techniques et scientifiques pouvant \u00eatre adress\u00e9es avec ce moyen, afin de garantir que les sp\u00e9cifications du t\u00e9lescope seront compatibles au mieux du besoin de surveillance de l&rsquo;espace mais aussi des applications \u00e9voqu\u00e9es ci-dessus. La sp\u00e9cification du t\u00e9lescope devra \u00eatre close d&rsquo;ici l&rsquo;automne 2024.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Pour se faire, nous proposons d&rsquo;organiser deux ateliers au printemps 2024, et nous vous sollicitons \u00e0 ce titre. Ces ateliers viseront \u00e0 pr\u00e9senter le projet et travailler ensemble sur les applications possibles afin de d\u00e9cliner cela en sp\u00e9cifications haut niveau pour le moyen, son t\u00e9lescope, mais aussi identifier des moyens connexes (existants ou futurs) pouvant s&rsquo;accr\u00e9ter autour de la plateforme PROVIDENCE.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Toute contribution, sous la forme de pr\u00e9sentations, des d\u00e9veloppements scientifiques et instrumentaux que vous jugerez compatibles avec le moyen seront les bienvenues pour garantir la meilleure ad\u00e9quation de ce moyen au paysage scientifique Fran\u00e7ais et faciliter les collaborations. Les pr\u00e9sentations seront accessibles en visio, mais pas les ateliers de discussion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>1iere atelier : \u00ab\u00a0Atelier PROVIDENCE 1 : Imagerie et spectroscopie pour l&rsquo;observation de l&rsquo;espace\u00a0\u00bb: &#8211; date : mardi 9 (pm) &amp; mercredi 10 &amp; jeudi 11 (am) avril 2024 &#8211; lieu OHP.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Cet atelier couvre toute application d&rsquo;observation de l&rsquo;espace pour l&rsquo;imagerie et la spectroscopie, pouvant impliquer ou non de l&rsquo;imagerie haute r\u00e9solution, de jour ou de nuit, voire des protocoles d&rsquo;observations plus sp\u00e9cifiques. The scientific programme of ESI addresses all aspects of scientific instrumentation related to the missions of the EIROforum organisations. The splinter session will have invited and contributed presentations. The meeting will also have presentations motivating the main outstanding questions, and then split into smaller groups where these questions will be discussed. Session S17, Journ\u00e9es de la SF2A: Gravitational Lensing in the JWST era, 6 juin, 2024, Marseille (France) &#8211; Appel \u00e0 contributions<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Deep space based data obtained in recent years by ambitious programs like RELICS and the Hubble Frontier Fields, and more recently with the James Webb Space Telescope, have revolutionized the field of gravitational lensing by galaxy clusters. These data, associated with additional observations (notably spectroscopy of cluster members and multiple images and Xray) offer several opportunities:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>(i) Establish mass maps of increasing precision, separating the different components intervening in the mass budget and allowing progress in the characterization of the elusive underlying dark matter that dominates the mass budget.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>(ii) Detect galaxies at very high redshift by benefiting from the gravitational amplification provided by galaxy clusters. These \u00ab natural telescopes \u00bb gives us access to populations of galaxies of much lower luminosities and allow us to zoom into the internal structure of galaxies, revealing very compact regions (below the kpc) which tell us about the stellar formation mechanisms.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On the other hand, the increasing quantity and quality of these new data require an evolution of modeling and analysis codes, and also of the way we aim to share the lens models to benefit the entire extragalactic community, whether for applications in cosmology and dark matter or in the evolution of galaxies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We propose a half-day workshop focused on the use of deep space data in order to study the evolution of galaxies and the physics of galaxy clusters. More than a decade of deep spectroscopic surveys of galaxies, absorption line studies in quasar spectra and sophisticated numerical simulations have placed interactions between galaxies and the CGM at the center of our quest to understand the formation of galaxies and the growth of the cosmic web. However, until very recently, the hot phase of the CGM was the least known of the gas phases surrounding galaxies despite being most likely the dominant share of CGM gas by mass.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The goal of the session is to establish new inter-disciplinary, multi-wavelength collaborations to build a better understanding of the physics of the hot phase of the CGM and its role in holistic views of galaxy formation and evolution.
