Letters of Intent for IAU Symposia 2026, Deadline: September 15, 2024

You are reminded that the deadline for submitting Letters of Intent (LoIs) for 2026 IAU Symposia is September 15, 2024, at 11:59pm ECST (UTC + 2h). LoIs can be submitted at the following link:
https://www.iau.org/science/meetings/proposals/loi/

Before preparing an LoI, please read carefully the Rules & Guidelines for IAU Scientific Meetings
(https://www.iau.org/science/meetings/rules/). In particular, in 2026 the IAU will sponsor eight in-person Symposia, and one fully on-line Symposium. Please be sure to indicate which option you prefer when submitting the LoI. In case of a fully on-line Symposium, it would be very helpful if you could indicate, in the Symposium rationale, the expected number of participants – this will help the IAU assess whether it will be necessary to charge a nominal registration fee to cover the cost of the proceedings.

Note that submission of an LoI is not obligatory, but it is strongly recommended. LoIs received by the deadline will be posted on the IAU website by September 30 to facilitate coordination and collaborations.

The IAU places emphasis on obtaining a balanced program of meetings, both scientifically and geographically. ESA Archival Research Visitor Programme

To increase the scientific return from its space science missions, the European Space Agency (ESA) welcomes applications from scientists interested in pursuing research projects based on data publicly available in the ESA Space Science Archives.

The ESA Archival Research Visitor Programme is open to scientists, at all career levels, affiliated with institutes in ESA Member States and Collaborating States. We will also consider strong applications from outside those states. Early-career scientists are particularly encouraged to apply. Research projects can be carried out at ESAC (Madrid) and at ESTEC (Noordwijk). During their visits, lasting 1-3 months, visiting scientists will have access to archives and mission specialists for help with the retrieval, calibration, and analysis of archival data. ESA covers travel costs from and to the home institution and provides support for lodging expenses and meals.

Applications received before 1 November 2024 will be considered for visits in spring and summer 2025.
