Appel \u00e0 candidature pour la direction du CDS<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The function of Director of the CDS will be opened in September 2025 and for duration of five years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Centre de Donn\u00e9es Astronomiques de Strasbourg (CDS), created in 1972, is a national Research Infrastructure of the French Ministry of Higher Education and Research Roadmap. It is also an internal team of the Observatoire astronomique de Strasbourg, in the framework of an INSU &#8211; Universit\u00e9 de<br>Strasbourg agreement. The CDS far-reaching initial charter still governs its activities:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>To collect \u2018useful\u2019 data on astronomical objects<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>To improve them by critical evaluation and combination<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>To distribute the results to the astronomical community<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>To conduct research using the data<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The formal applications should be sent by E-mail, with a subject line \u00ab\u00a0Director, CDS\u00a0\u00bb to the President of the Committee, Professor Stephen Serjeant (stephen.serjeant@open.ac.uk), before 5th January 2025. Applications will be evaluated by the Scientific Council of CDS who will address a recommendation to CNRS-INSU and University of Strasbourg for the nomination. Workshop Cesam2k20 II: Processus de transport, Novembre 14-15, 2024, Meudon (France)<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>In order to strengthen the community of users around the Cesam2k20 public stellar evolution code, we are organising a second workshop which will take place on <em>14-15 November 2024<\/em>, at the Observatoire de Meudon in the Centre de Conf\u00e9rences Jules Janssen for <em>30 people<\/em>. The workshop website is now open: <a href=\"https:\/\/cesamworkshop2.sciencesconf.org\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">https:\/\/cesamworkshop2.sciencesconf.org<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This year&rsquo;s edition will focus mainly on modelling the transport mechanisms of chemical elements and angular momentum. However, novice users of Cesam2k20 are welcome and part of the workshop will be dedicated to installing and getting to grips with the code.<br>This workshop is aimed at all communities that use stellar models (stellar physics, exoplanets, disks, physics of the Milky Way and of the galaxies, etc.).<br>We can provide (partial) financial support for people coming from far away or whose laboratory is unable to fund the full cost of their mission. D\u00e9c\u00e8s de Suzanne D\u00e9barbat<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>C\u2019est avec une grande tristesse que nous vous faisons part du d\u00e9c\u00e8s de Suzanne D\u00e9barbat, survenu le 6 aout, \u00e0 l\u2019\u00e2ge de 95 ans.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Suzanne D\u00e9barbat \u00e9tait une personnalit\u00e9 marquante de l\u2019astronomie fran\u00e7aise et de l\u2019Observatoire de Paris.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Embauch\u00e9e \u00e0 l\u2019Observatoire de Paris en 1955 comme assistant astronome, elle y a effectu\u00e9 toute sa carri\u00e8re, tout d\u2019abord dans le domaine de l\u2019astrom\u00e9trie, notamment en exploitant les observations qu\u2019elle menait avec l\u2019astrolabe de Danjon, puis comme sp\u00e9cialiste en histoire de l\u2019astronomie (histoire de l\u2019Observatoire de Paris, de ses astronomes et leurs travaux, mesure du temps, syst\u00e8me m\u00e9trique, instruments astronomiques), se basant sur les archives de l\u2019Observatoire de Paris, du Bureau des longitudes et de l\u2019Acad\u00e9mie des sciences. Elle est l\u2019auteur, dans ces deux domaines, de nombreux articles qui restent des r\u00e9f\u00e9rences incontournables.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Suzanne D\u00e9barbat a dirig\u00e9 le d\u00e9partement d\u2019astronomie fondamentale de l\u2019Observatoire de Paris (DANOF, devenu depuis le SYRTE) de 1987 \u00e0 1992.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ses travaux ont \u00e9t\u00e9 reconnus par un ensemble de distinctions particuli\u00e8rement remarquable: Suzanne D\u00e9barbat \u00e9tait en effet commandeur des palmes acad\u00e9miques, des Arts et Lettres et de l\u2019ordre national du M\u00e9rite, officier de la L\u00e9gion d\u2019Honneur et laur\u00e9ate du grand Prix Jules-Janssen de la Soci\u00e9t\u00e9 astonomique de France (2013) et du prestigieux Prix d\u2019histoire des sciences (\u00ab Prix 2019 Paul Doisteau-Emile Blutet de l\u2019information scientifique\u00a0\u00bb) de l\u2019Acad\u00e9mie des sciences.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Tr\u00e8s renomm\u00e9e au niveau international, elle a \u00e9t\u00e9 pr\u00e9sidente de la commission 41, Histoire de l\u2019Astronomie, de l\u2019Union Astronomique Internationale (1991-1994). Elle \u00e9tait membre de l\u2019Acad\u00e9mie internationale d\u2019histoire des sciences, du Comit\u00e9 national fran\u00e7ais d\u2019histoire et de philosophie des sciences, mais aussi du Bureau des longitudes dont elle avait \u00e9t\u00e9 pr\u00e9sidente, et dont elle ne ratait pratiquement aucune s\u00e9ance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Elle a fait profiter de nombreux coll\u00e8gues et visiteurs de sa connaissance exceptionnelle de l\u2019histoire et du patrimoine de l\u2019Observatoire. Les discussions avec Suzanne \u00e9taient toujours passionnantes, et tous les personnels savaient qu\u2019on pouvait lui poser \u00e0 peu pr\u00e8s n\u2019importe quelle question sur l\u2019histoire de l\u2019Observatoire ou plus g\u00e9n\u00e9ralement l\u2019histoire de l\u2019astronomie. Encore tr\u00e8s active jusqu\u2019en 2020,on la croisait fr\u00e9quemment dans la salle de lecture de la Biblioth\u00e8que \u00e0 Paris, consultant archives, ouvrages et documents en vue d&rsquo;un ouvrage sur la \u00ab\u00a0dynastie\u00a0\u00bb des Cassini. Suzanne \u00e9tait particuli\u00e8rement appr\u00e9ci\u00e9e pour sa personnalit\u00e9 dynamique, serviable et accueillante, dot\u00e9e d&rsquo;un grand sens de la r\u00e9partie.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>La disparition de Suzanne D\u00e9barbat laisse un grand vide \u00e0 l\u2019Observatoire et au Bureau des Longitudes.
