4. Prix Gemini 2026
La Société Astronomique de France (SAF) et la Société Française d’Astronomie et d’Astrophysique (SF2A) se sont associées pour créer le Prix Gemini destiné à récompenser une collaboration remarquable entre amateurs et professionnels en astronomie et sciences connexes. Ainsi, elles lancent l’appel à candidature pour le Prix Gemini 2026 qui sera remis lors des Journées de la SF2A, qui se tiendront du 22 au 26 juin 2026 à Grenoble.
Pour l’édition 2026 du prix Gemini, le jury Gemini invite les candidatures de nouvelles collaborations ainsi que celles des candidats et candidates non lauréats des années précédentes (avec des dossiers remis à jour). Les modalités de candidature sont détaillées à cette adresse: https://sf2a.eu/website2023/prix_gemini/.

5. Prix Chesneau 2025
The Chesneau Prize is awarded every two years to an outstanding recently graduated PhD student in the field of High Angular Resolution Astronomy.
It was established in 2015 by the Observatoire de la Côte d’Azur and the European Southern Observatory in memory of Olivier Chesneau.
The 2025 prize is for PhDs defended in the years 2023 and 2024. Candidates can be nominated until February, 28, 2026. No self-nomination is accepted.
The award committee is constituted of four members :
The Director of the Observatoire de la Côte d’Azur,or his/her representative
The Director of the Laboratory Lagrange,or his/her representative
The ESO Director for Science,or his/her representative
The Director of the CNRS/INSU “Action Spécifique sur la Haute Résolution Angulaire” (ASHRA), or his/her representative
The committee organizes its work completely independently; in particular, it may consult outside experts to evaluate the candidates. Deliberations are kept confidential. The committee may decide to share the prize between two nominees or to award no prize, based on the quality of the nominations. The decisions of the committee are final.
Observatoire de la Côte d’Azur will provide a monetary award of 1000€, an award certificate and will hand the prize at a ceremony. ESO will publicly announce the winner to enhance the visibility of the prize-winning work and will also invite them to present their work at the ESO Headquarters in Garching, Germany.
Application is open to every PhD student in high-angular-resolution astronomy.
It consists in
– A nomination letter stating the originality and the potential impact of the nominated work and candidate
– A supporting letter from a second scientist (who is not the PhD thesis advisor)
– A CV of the nominee
– the publication list of the nominee
– A copy of the phD thesis of the nominee

6. Nouveau Président de l’Observatoire de Paris – PSL
Philippe Stée a été élu Président de l’Observatoire de Paris – PSL le 30 janvier 2026. Il succédera à Fabienne Casoli et prendra ses fonctions le 13 mars 2026 pour un mandat de cinq ans.

7. European Socio-Demographic Survey in Astronomy and Planetary Sciences
This study is addressed to all professionals in these fields across Europe. Its primary objective is to better understand the experiences of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, and other gender or sexual minority (LGBTQIA+) individuals within the astronomical and planetary science community. Importantly, participation from non-LGBTQIA+ individuals is strongly encouraged and essential in order to obtain a comprehensive and representative overview of the field.
The survey is fully anonymous and takes only a few minutes to complete, and the deadline is February 28th.
We would be very grateful if you could share this survey with your members via your mailing lists, newsletters, or other appropriate communication channels. Your support would significantly contribute to the reach and impact of this study and help improve inclusivity and understanding within our scientific community.

8. AAS survey about the anticipated impacts of Reflect Orbital
The AAS is informing you about an opportunity to sign a letter by DarkSky International to Reflect Orbital and its investors,a new satellite company that proposes to deliver sunlight as a service by launching thousands of mirrors into low Earth orbit, expressing concern about the provision of sunlight as a service and proposing specific actions.
In addition, we expect that the Federal Communications Commission might open a public comment period on the application within the next few weeks, and we will be in touch about how you can submit a comment on the proposal. Please reach out to public.policy@aas.org if you have any questions.

Chaque année, le CNES accorde une centaine d’allocations de recherche doctorale et postdoctorale à des étudiants français et étrangers, dans les domaines suivants :
· sciences pour l’ingénieur (systèmes orbitaux, systèmes de transport spatial),
· sciences utilisatrices des moyens spatiaux (sciences de l’Univers, sciences de la Terre, sciences en micropesanteur),
· sciences humaines et sociales (juridique, histoire, économie, sociologie, psychologie, etc.).
Le CNES contribue ainsi à la formation par la recherche de jeunes chercheurs et ingénieurs dans des domaines d’intérêt pour le secteur spatial.

11. AEI 2026
L’édition 2026 des Ateliers Expérimentation et Instrumentation (AEI) organisée à l’Observatoire Midi Pyrénées (OMP) à l’initiative du CNRS-INSU, aura lieu du mardi 30 juin 2026 (à partir de 13h) au vendredi 03 juillet 2026 (13h) dans les locaux de l’INSA à Toulouse.
Pour rappel, les AEI ont pour but de réunir les ingénieurs, techniciens et chercheurs spécialistes du développement instrumental pour la recherche et l’observation en science de la terre et de l’univers afin d’échanger sur les aspects « mesure, méthodologie, conception et réalisation, mise en œuvre et innovation »
La participation aux AEI est gratuite, mais une inscription est obligatoire. Le site d’inscription sera ouvert dans les prochaines semaines, l’adresse de ce site vous sera transmise très bientôt !
