1. EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR Canada-France-Hawaiʻi Telescope Corporation (closing date: 2026-10-31)
The Canada-France-Hawaiʻi Telescope Corporation (CFHT) invites applications and nominations for the position of Executive Director. This is an exceptional opportunity for a visionary scientific and organizational leader to guide one of the world’s premier astronomical observatories through a pivotal chapter in its history — one that demands both scientific ambition and a deep, genuine commitment to the people and places of Hawaiʻi.
The successful candidate will bring:
• A graduate degree (Master’s or doctoral level) in astronomy, astrophysics, engineering, or a closely related field, or equivalent demonstrated leadership experience in a science or technology-intensive organization.
• Broad knowledge of astronomy, including familiarity with optical and infrared observational techniques and instrumentation.
• Demonstrated experience managing a scientific research facility, technical organization, or comparable institution in a team-oriented, international environment.
• Very strong communication skills and a proven ability to inspire, motivate, and make compelling public presentations; demonstrated skills in institutional and international relations.
• The ability to think and act strategically, with a track record of translating vision into results.
• Demonstrated cultural competency and a genuine commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion, with experience engaging authentically across diverse communities — a quality of particular importance given CFHT’s responsibilities on Maunakea.

2. CNRS Junior Professorship : French Contribution for the ELT
At a critical moment for French participation, marked by the final phases of instrumental validation and the preparation of the first scientific programs ahead of commissioning in 2029, the objective of this Junior Professor Chair is to consolidate and strengthen France’s position in this global project by recruiting a high-level researcher. The candidate must propose an ambitious program leveraging the unique capabilities of the ELT, whether in terms of state-of-the-art instrumentation and/or scientific exploitation.

4. Planetary Climate Models (PCM) tutorial days, 13th-14th October, 2026, Paris (France)
The first « Planetary Climate Models (PCM) tutorial days » will be held on the 13th and 14th of October 2026 on the Sorbonne University Campus (Jussieu, Paris).
The Planetary Climate Models (PCMs) are a family of three-dimensional Global Climate Models (GCMs) developed primarily by the French community to simulate the climates of planets across the Solar System and beyond.
These two days are intended to provide new users with the fundamentals needed to install and run the Planetary Climate Models (PCMs) for their own scientific projects. The tutorials will cover the common framework shared by all PCM versions, including those developed for Mars, Venus, Titan, and the Generic PCM (used for exoplanets, paleoclimates and solar system giant planets).
The target audience is thus mainly, but not limited to, PhDs and Postdocs.
For practical reasons, we have to limit the number of attendees to twenty.
We therefore encourage applicants to pre-register (by sending an email to ehouarn.millour@lmd.ipsl.fr) as soon as possible. In your email, please briefly describe your scientific interests and the type of planetary applications you would like to work on with the PCMs.
